Do they ever free-range? My RIR found a out of the way spot to claim as her nest. When I found it there were 7 eggs in it.. and I didn't even know she was laying.
Porter is an unincorporated area in Montgomery County. I couldn't find the answer either, but I did find a fellow Backyard chicken member (patchofheaven) who resides in Montgomery County, maybe he/she can help answer this for you. Good luck

I'm not going to say the dog DIDN'T do it, but I cannot understand how there was not a trace of the chicks left behind. She had an hour to completely devour them, bones, feathers, & blood? I guess that's the most puzzling part.. the chicks just disappeared!! I watched her closely afterward to...
Well, I don't think it could have been a snake.. I live in the city and have only seen a couple of snakes in the 18+ years I've been here and they were pretty small. Or rats. Thanks for the suggestions but I don't think so. The only thing that makes sense to me is a bird of prey. I did watch a...

We have our brooder box ready and it's passed a trial run. The coop is almost finished and already we have plans and materials for a second coop. Yes, it's safe to say the chicken bug has bitten here in League City, Texas! Wish us luck!
Thanks yall! I've been researching coops and the such, really getting excited about this new endeavour in our lives. I have enough supplies to go ahead a build a small coop and get started. I will check out the suggested link! More later!
