The 25 year warranty is impressive, and I like that it is made from recycled materials.

Hi Colorado chicken people, I am moving to a new house in the same neighborhood, and I'd like to take my chicken coop with me. Problem is, it wasn't built with moving in mind, and we don't have an alley. So it's either a crane, or taking it apart and rebuilding at the new house. Can anyone...

Hello. I have three bantam golden laced cochins to sell. They are about six weeks old. I purchased them as sexed pullets from Cackle Hatchery. I would like to sell all three as a group for $15. Full disclosure - one of the three is looking a little rooster-y, but it's too early to say...

I got my order of sexed bantam pullets from Cackle hatchery today. I have a few extras if anyone is looking for banty chicks. 2-3 each of Rhode Island reds, dominiques, and gold laced Cochins. I paid $10 each plus shipping but make an offer. I was worried about them arriving in the cold weather...

Hello, I have an order of bantams chicks arriving April 3. They are sexed bantam pullets from Cackle Hatchery. I will have a few extras of the following: Dominiqe, Rhode Island Red, and Golden-laced Cochin. I will sell them for $10 each, which is same price I paid for them. Let me know if you...

Hello, I wanted to pass along some information about some research that is being conducted by the CSU veterinary school about the presence of salmonella in backyard and small scale layer flocks. The researchers came to see my coop this morning. Just took some samples and went through a...

What breed do you think my dog is?

Just adopted a mixed breed rescue pup, any guesses on what kind of mixed she might be? I got her from an Australian Shepherd rescue, they thought she was an Aussie/boxer mix, but at 35 pounds (18 months old) she seems too small for that. The vet thinks she looks like a hound. I just think she's...

Looks like my neighborhood hawk is back, it started coming around last year in mid-August too. I don't know what kind it is, but it's pretty small. I don't think it could carry off even one of my bantams, but I'm sure it could do some damage. No free ranging for a little while. Most of the...

Hello, hope everyone got some of that good rain yesterday. I finished my latest project today, made a little patio in front of the coop with concrete pavers. It was bare dirt and dead grass before.

Yeah, something sounded a little too good to be true about wanting everyone's unwanted chickens, so I clicked his facebook profile. There's stuff there that sounded a little alarming and unstable. I also don't want to post this on facebook under my full name, but if anyone knows the people who...

Hi Chicken Friends, At the risk of not minding my own business, I wanted to mention that there's a person on the Colorado Chickens FB page offering to buy, sell, and trade unwanted chickens. If you click on his profile and do a basic google search, there is info you might want to know before...

Mine slowed way down after I moved the 8-week old pullets from the brooder in the garage to the coop. One egg yesterday from 8 hens! Hopefully they'll get back on track soon.

This ended up working pretty well. I left her in the garage for a few days to let the little ones get comfortable in the coop, then moved her to a confined space in the coop for a few more days. Yesterday I let them all out into the yard, including the mean one, and when they all came back in...

I have used craigslist for this twice, both times was happy to find people who were actual chicken hobbyists who wanted the roosters for their flocks. If someone wants to eat them, I'm not too worried about that, just don't want anything cruel to happen to them! I also gave some away at the...

Yep, totally normal to have to put the babies in by hand for a while. My latest little ones figured it out after one night, but they have the adult hens to watch, and I also kept them confined inside the coop for a couple of days before turning them loose. My first batch took several nights...

Can baby chicks have worms? (Picture)

As far as I can tell, the chicks that had this weird poop are all perfectly healthy. Still don't know what that was all about. I treated with Corid as a precaution, but I don't really think they were sick. They are 9-10 weeks now, recently moved out to the coop and doing great.

Thanks, I like your advice to put her in a confined area inside the coop until she's done being broody. It sort of keeps her in the mix, and I won't feel as bad as leaving her alone in the garage! I think I will do that in a couple of days when the little ones start looking more comfortable...
