Hi! If you haven't found someone yet, I can recommend my husband. I know, not much better than Craigslist, but he is a pretty fabulous carpenter. I can show you some of the work he's done. Of course...I should probably ask him if he's interested first. Buuuuut oh well.

Thanks! I sent you a private message. :)

@madileana your dog is a real cutie. Love the two different colored eyes. Sounds like is a great flock master. It's neat that it's ll instinctual.

I've got two dogs. One keeps her distance and the other wants to give the birds love. The problem is they don't want his love. He's kind of learned the ducks don't like him but he is trying to win over the quail chicks. I'm hoping the chicken chick will be more open to giving him a little attention when I get them. But honestly I'm happy as long as there is no aggression between everyone. I'm really happy I don't need to worry about the dogs trying to attack the birds. My mom had to find a different dog sitter because we knew the new chicks wouldn't stand a chance with her Yorkie.

@renzanity
I didn't train him to do anything for the chickens! He just does it, it's completely instinctual. He loves them with his whole doggie heart. They are magical creatures that he can control and they reward him with delicious butt treats. We brought him home last August and he was my first puppy, as an adult. I'm not sure if it's a BC thing, but he spent 80% of his day outside. He was just happier out than in the house. The chickens replaced his pup mates so he wasn't alone. We also have four children that kept him busy. By routine he was just used to me taking him out in the am and waking the chickens and then in the evening, putting them to bed before he came in for the night. Our chickens really think he is the rooster and he takes care of them all day.

I read that there is a huge difference between bred working BC's and show BC's, so I got Emmett from a working line. He is all business in the backyard, won't even let you pet him, but in the house or beyond the backyard, he is sugar coated in love. He does the school marathon weekly with our special needs daughter and is a celebrity to a flock of ten little girls that take turns holding his leash.
This is the sweetest thing ever.

Well, what's coming is still completely up in the air... literally as well as figuratively. The "experts" still aren't sure exactly who, what, when, where, etc. But it looks like most of us are going to get wet, just a matter of how much and what form it's going to take. Looks like no matter what, you folks at higher elevations are in for it. Saying 2-4 feet, but of course we all know from previous events like this that that could be substantially off. If you want to kinda keep up with what the pros are hedging about, here ya go: http://www.weather.gov/media/bou/april2016snowstorm2.pdf

Now, much as I'd like to continue to procrastinate, I really MUST get up off my ar$e, and get outside and get some things accomplished before the good weather ends and this potential snow storm gets here. Wishing the best for all through the potential what's coming.

I was hoping the one we got a few weeks ago was the last one. We had 17 inches. I didn't much care because I knew it would melt fast. Heck, it was melting by the time it stopped snowing at 5pm in Longmont but this one looks like a doozy. And the trees are budding. Will have to be out with the broom shaking branches all weekend it is looking like. The weather blog I follow, Weather5280, is great. They don't like to jump on the hype bandwagon like the news programs do. http://www.weather5280.com/

Got the crew out in Boulder working and earning their keep the other day. Got our garden beds turned for the year with some help. Sorry can't post pictures but will try later.

Anyone else having issues with BYC? Seems often my multi-quite button disappears and often I don't get the editor side of posting, meaning, I cannot post pics or change my type or do an @ cause those buttons done show up. :confused:

Ok some garden shots

Also those chicks are two weeks old and feathering a lot now. Hoping we can get them through this upcoming storm in the uncovered run....we have a game plan.

Happy snow storm! It has been snowing on and off since 8AM, but nothing that sticks.
There were 8 that hatched and I think that will be it. They are off into their chick cave and happy, so is my kitten, cause I turned the TV back on!
Off to move hay closer to the sheep and gather anything needed closer to the house. DS loaded the firewood back up.
Take care!

Nothing down on the front range plains yet, but can see the moisture squalls up over the foothills. Seems kinda centered west of boulder... nothing from Denver south visible over the mnts (yet).
