Here is the coop I built last year. It has worked out great. I have two nesting boxes on each side. There are three perches up high for them to roost at night. I also have a place to hang their drinker and feeder.
With the two doors I can reach all around inside to clean or catch crazy wild...
I know it has been over a year since my last post about the Silkies I had in my incubator. Out of the six, three hatched and I was very pleased. It was fun watching them get bigger and their feathers coming out. But it is with a heavy heart I am here to say that they did not make it. After a...
Well, after several days of getting my temperatures regulated, everything seem to be going good with my first ebay egg endeavor. I am on my 14th day and candle last night. Out of the 15 set I had 6 with good life and one questionable. Out of the ones I discarded, one had the red ring of death...
Well let me know how they go. I hope all is well with the eggs, and you get a good hatch.
I built my two incubators, one is a still air and the other I added a fan and a variable switch to control the heat light. I had good luck with both, but I like the still air better.
I am setting my first mail order hatch today. I have hatched several of my chickens eggs but never any from the internet. I got 18 today that I won off of eBay. (Bantam Buff Sebright) Out of the 18, only 2 were bad. I will keep my fingers cross and keep you posted. Is anyone else setting today?

I kept up with my temperatures and humidity at each turning and made notes of adding water and candling. (or any other note worthy information) I averaged my sheet today and printed out a graph. It is neat to keep up with this kind of information and to see where you made changes along the way...
Here are a few photo of the new happy family this morning. Everyone is up eating and drinking. Everyone seems to be happy and healthy.
Group shot!
Leave us alone we are eating!
Before bed last night the Maran was out and running wild. When I woke up this morning the other Barred Rock was hatched and looked to be happy as well. All three of them were huddled around the last Maran eggs this morning when I took this last photo. I am not sure if it is going to make it...
I started out with 6 eggs in my homemade incubator. 3 Barred Rock Bantams and 3 Black French Marans. Two of the eggs I removed, after candling them, which were not fertile. (one of each) They went on lock down Sunday. It has been very interesting waiting to see what happened. There was so much...
