Sometimes it helps to take the bully out for a few days. Knocks her down in the pecking order. But I think it would just prolong the fighting in the long run since you will have to then reintroduce her. As long as nobody is getting hurt I would leave them be.
I think I'm going to have to do this with my English Orpingtons. Not going to be fun as it's still in the 20's here during the day and we don't have running water in the cabin. Will have to get the neighbor to help because my husband will have a fit if he has to hold a chicken or see's chicken...
I've only had my 6 month olds for a few weeks. They don't run from me but only because they know I have food. Not having any part of being picked up though. Not that I really want to pick them up and pet them. I think if you are wanting a pet then I would recommend starting with younger chicks.
Do you only have chickens? You could just put enough food and water in the coop to last that long . They must be free range. I would just put them in the coop early if you have a date. Mine are in a run and when it gets late they just go inside and I lock up when I get home.
Hi Everybody,
I live in Alaska and just got a few chickens. I have BBS English Orpingtons that have just started to lay, a SWH Rooster that I am trying to find girlfriends for and a mix hen that I think is my favorite.
