Thank you Madscience... we found the cheeky little thing... living in the coop! no wonder I kept thinking "how is it getting in - It is snake proof!"
He was living in the roof... so we had to pull it apart to get to the ****** thing... so now my chooks are living in my garden shed at night til i...
after about 2 days the hens have all worked out their pecking order and get along great!
You can mix new chickens with old in your pen. Just try not to interfear when they peck eachother. They are just trying to work out whose boss! (unless there is blood)
My little babies are going missing one at a time. The first when they were 8 weeks old.. totally disappeared
the next a week ago about 9 1/2 weeks old... found her dead swallowed up to her chest... but the snake obviously is too small to eat her
then again this morning about 10 weeks old she...
I have a similar problem... i have introduced new hens, one of which was a pair but now she is single... she sits by herself in a corner all day and doesnt socialise with the other chickens unless the little ones annoy her then she pecks them to go away.... im thinking i might have to get...

I am wandering if anyone knows or thinks it is possble to get a pointer / retreiver dog, like a Hungarian Vizsla and have it live in harmony with your free range backyard chickens?
Of course i know I am going to have to train her well, but i would also like to train her for hunting...
BAHAHAHAHA! So true... I had the similar revelation back in feb (our summer here in Australia) with my mango tree.... I bought $40 worth of tree netting and only managed to get 3 mangoes off the 2 trees! And I was away and didnt even get to eat them - had to give them to friends
