Name: Jackpot - Gelding
Age: 19
Breed: Mustang
Color: Bay
Personality: Jack is friendly, although aloof. Attention is given on his terms. He's very well behaved, respectful, and curious. Jack is retired due to Cushings disease and neurological issues. My heart horse.

I'm not new to chickens, but am new again after a couple of years. I have two bantam hens, one of which went broody in mid August. I found her sitting on the nest about the 17th. Was able to check and see that she had two little bantam eggs under her. One of my bigger hens still insisted on...
Hi all! I currently have two pre fab coops with a shared run. I have 8 PR, and 2 Bantam hens that will live in this area. It was suggested to me on another thread to convert one coop to an 'open air'/woods coop. DH is on board, poor guy, the chicken stuff never ends! Wanted to see if any of...
I worry about the little ones with the hawks, they aren't super friendly, don't know if I can get them back in! I would love to let them out to explore. Just thought waiting till they were a bit older was a good idea. When I have some time tomorrow I will let them out and keep an eye on them.
The big coop is about (I'm guessing here) 4x3 not counting nesting boxes. The other is 3x3 with nesting boxes. So 21 sq feet (about) between the two. That's 10.5 birds @ 2 sq ft each. I will have 8 standard hens and 2 bantam hens to share this space. Its tight I know, but I hope the free ranging...
Aart, I have 2 coops, prefab, which aren't very big. One is big enough I believe for the big girls, both are plenty big for the bantam. Each coop has its own 'run. The shared run is 12x12, the big girls get to free range daily. I have 8 PR about 12 weeks old, 6 bantams about 7 weeks old. 4 of...
What beautiful horses! I can only hope Bean turns out like that. He's in a very wonky growing stage right now, looks silly. He has a while to grow still, but looking at his body and legs (minus the baby belly), he looks more refined and fine boned. Just hard to say at this point what he will...
This is Bean. I got him in October last year, he will be 2 in July. I was told he is a mini, but already too big for that. He has some Shetland traits, wide set eyes, small ears, grows a double winter coat. But, he's not built like a Shetland. Thinking Welsh cross? He's 40" tall at the withers...
As of yesterday evening, the bantams have their own portion of the bigger run. Its fenced off from the big girls, but gives them more room. My DH was going to build a gate for people access this weekend, but what I'm going to do us cut a small hole in a few places that the bantams can get...
So, here's the deal. 8 Production Red hens, currently 12 weeks old. 6 Bantams (4 of which are roosters) about 8 weeks old. Original plan: 8x8 shed with large run, etc etc etc. That didn't work out. After buying the big girls, we purchased a prefab coop, which is working out well, not quite...
Hi all! So, it's finally summer here in southern New Mexico. Over the last several weeks, it's been in the low to mid 80's, which is cool for late April/May. Well, this week we hit the 90's, 100's for the next few days. Much hotter than usual. My chickens are hot. Went out to check them...
I have this coop. Just finished putting it all together last week for my 6 bantams. We sealed everything inside and out, will upgrade hardware and do some work on the screen for the run, it needs to be beefed up a bit. The run is a bit top heavy and my DH used 2x4's at each corner and along...
