A pair of starlings decided to raise their babies in my coop..could this be a problem? I know how messy bird nests can be, I don't want to expose my chicks to possible parasites. Thoughts?
General question about tail spread. A few of my pullets have well spread base feathers of their tail and tighter feathers towards the top of their spread. What should I be looking for in a cock bird (if anything) to correct that? Or should I cull and use the few I have without pinched by themselves
It's day 21. I had 10 eggs going into lockdown. Of those eggs, 4 have hatched, 4 have pipped. ONE OF MY HATCHLINGS:
The chick was malpositioned and pipped last night. I thought it wasn't a big deal and I'd just keep an eye on it, it's happened before. Well I noticed yellow fluid coming from...
I have more pictures of roosters! These are from pipsnpeeps and coming up on a year old now. Looking for a critique! I have two more to take pictures of as well.
Rooster 1
I think his back is a tad too long. It seems off
Rooster 2

Attempted to take pictures of my flock... They're very camera shy!Going to try this weekend for some closeups, praying for sunny weather! Jean- your pullets are looking GREAT! Cockerels looking a bit scrappy, low on the totem pole as of now and no one has molted yet. Can't wait for them to fill...
A friend of mine brought me a hen today, with what seems to be a dislocated hock joint. She has feeling and movement in her thigh, but below the hock her leg just hangs limp. She doesn't use it at all, and she couldn't move her toes to grasp my finger. I felt the joint, it isn't swollen but it...
It's been a while since I checked in! Moved my babies into a larger pen this last weekend. Jean, your babies are feathering out nicely, and not even 4 weeks old! I have 12 that hatched, looks about an even split of blacks to blues (may be more blues than blacks). Can't wait to see them fully...

The last baby to hatch today didn't completely absorb his yolk. It hangs out and I don't want anyone else to pull it or it to rupture..what should I do?
Well, hatch is complete and ALL chicks (including malpositioned) hatched healthy with no complications. I will be watching them for anything else that might come up. Thanks for the help!
