    Silkie noises??

My silkie makes a crazy noise, her whole body vibrates when she does it. It's adorable, but it is CONSTANT.

    Recycled items for a coup!

I finally finished our coop. Please tell me what you think!!! Everything is recycled from a different place. I think the front (where the nesting boxes are) looks like a children's lemonade stand, so I'm going to paint it to look like an "eggs for sale" stand and make a little fabric awning...

    Are they roosters by accident?

I started noticing the posture. He stood up much more straight, he was faster, he started to be finicky about being held, and he was just overall much more confident and manly. I also noticed his saddle feathers were very pointy instead of square or round which I read was a sign. Oddly enough, I...

    Are they roosters by accident?

This morning, the 2 suspected roosters attempted to crow. All the birds stopped in their tracks, cold. They didn't know what was going on!!! So, I'm quite sad to say, I have to get rid of them sooner than later :( of course it has to be the most handsome birds of all. One of my americaunas And...

    Empty nest syndrome

It's officially. The babies are spending their first night in the coup. I'm sure they don't know any differently, but I feel a little empty :( I'm so happy for them to have a big coup and not in a box in the closet anymore but I go outside and check on them every 20 minutes!! They have food and...

when to switch from starter feed?

the woman at concord feed told me to give them the start and grow for 4 months, then switch to adult feed with oyster shell. But, it seems almost every post disagrees with that. I have 8, we have gone through about 10lbs of feed, they are 6 weeks old today. I can't give you any advice, just...

    Are they roosters by accident?

Ok so what do I do with Roos once I'm 100% sure? My farmer friend cuts their heads off bc he said one will only kill the other. There is NO way I can or would do that. He suggested 4h locals. Any other ideas?

    Are they roosters by accident?

I'm fairly confident that 1 of my 8 is a rooster, 1 of my 2 seabright bantams. Ill be sad if my andricauna turns out to be a rooster. I'm going to try a trick I read about, tucking his head and facing him in the corner. I guess I just wait until he crows or doesn't lay eggs.

    Are they roosters by accident?

I was under the impression that the chicks I bought from concord feed were lady birds. However, when watching them in their box- I see some behavior that worries me. I have 1 americauna- (who's color turned out gorgeous but not at all what I expected) who seems to run as fast as it can from side...

Concord feed is my home location- but there are 2 stores. The pleasant hill store is great, and the staff is awesome. The concord location leaves a lot to be desired.

    How old is old enough?

I gave them some apple diced super small today. They seemed to like it- they didn't go nuts like they do for the mealworms... But they still seemed ok. I'm excited to see what they go nuts for. Maybe it's more for my enjoyment, I could watch them for hours!

Is the nipple bottle the same kind you put in a gerbil or mouse cage? Can someone post a picture of theirs?

    Chick with allergies?

My americauna sneezes, I swear it's a sneeze. And a tiny little boogie comes out of it's nose. It's freaking adorable, but..is it something to be concerned about?

    How old is old enough?

Thanks. We have a decent garden, so I don't want the chicks eating blueberries and arugula if it's not good for them!!

Hi! I'm new- and SO EXCITED!!
