Pullet with Yellow Nasal Discharge, no other symptoms

No issues in the coop. It's large, cleaned weekly. We did just have a terrible round of Santa Ana winds that cause extreme heat, wind, and dryness. San Diego is usually mild, but we had temps of 105 with 0% humidity. I wonder if it could be that? If nasal discharge is a sign of infection, I...

Pullet with Yellow Nasal Discharge, no other symptoms

So, oddly enough, when I got home today and checked on her, her mucus was dry and clear. No other symptoms. When I put her back in the run to get some food/water/to observe, the runny nose came back but clear. There is a slight odor but not the rotting death smell. We went and bought a dog crate...

Pullet with Yellow Nasal Discharge, no other symptoms

Your info that coryza is marked by a foul odor leads me to believe it may be coryza. Non of our other 12 birds have exhibited symptoms. We haven't introduced any new hems since the beginning of September. I'm hoping it'a different respiratory illness. My husband mentioned that her discharge...

Pullet with Yellow Nasal Discharge, no other symptoms

I've read that if it's Coryza, we need to cull her. How long should we give it to figure out if that's what it is?

Pullet with Yellow Nasal Discharge, no other symptoms

Just noticed a pullet with yellow nasal discharge. Separated her from the flock. No bubbly eyes or wheezing. She is eating and drinking fine. No lethargy. How do we discern if this is coryza or a regular respiratory infection that can be easily cleared up. We will be out of town and will have...

    Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons

I think the sellers are very new to chickens. No harm, no "fowl" ;)

    Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons

Exactly! They were so gentle! They let me hold them and pet them. They didn't make a peep. I'd love to have roosters someday but we are city dwellers :(

    Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons

The woman I got these from was convinced they are hens. She said they are 6 months old. They have not crowed yet, nor have they started laying. My husband went to pick them up and when he got home, I was pretty sure these are roosters. Is there any hope for these beauties being hens??If they are...

    Mystery leg/foot injury?

my bantam naked neck didn't make it up into the coop last night. She is limping and her toes seem bent. She waddles and is whimpering. She can't keep her balance. No signs of puncture/broken skin/bleeding etc. I can extend both legs. Any ideas? I have video but I'm not sure how to post it here.

Sick Hen, green poop, lethargic, lightweight, wilted comb, thirsty

Chickens are started on cocci treatment today (our local feed store suggested cocci treatment, then worm treatment). Now one of my younger birds (she'll be one around Easter) is sneezing. Can these things be related? We are in Sunny San Diego, but have had rain the past two days. Maybe she...

Sick Hen, green poop, lethargic, lightweight, wilted comb, thirsty

Hi @casportpony Thanks for the advice. I'm in suburban San Diego. All of the feed stores I've called are out of stock or don't carry the one shot dewormers. Ergh. And still no other chickens are showing symptoms.

Sick Hen, green poop, lethargic, lightweight, wilted comb, thirsty

Having trouble tracking down these products locally. One place will order the Valbazen for me. I hope she hasn't killed the flock by then! Another group (on FB) suggested it could be coccidiosis. There's no blood, but it seems like the symptoms are very similar? Can I treat the entire flock...

Sick Hen, green poop, lethargic, lightweight, wilted comb, thirsty

Valbazen- great! Thank you all so much! She is about 2.5 years old. We adopted her about a year ago from a lady who's neighbors were complaining about the noise.

Sick Hen, green poop, lethargic, lightweight, wilted comb, thirsty

I hope it's ok to post poo pics here. I don't see any worms. Which doesn't mean they aren't there... no other birds have symptoms. Just want to make sure I'm on the right track before I go buy worm medicine. Thanks all! Wilted Comb Green poop with grassy bits Crumpled feathers

Thanks! She is one of 13 hens. Do we need to deworm the entire flock?

Sick Hen, green poop, lethargic, lightweight, wilted comb, thirsty

Hi All- I've been reading lots of posts about sick hens, but am getting mixed symptoms. My girl is featherweight, lethargic, very thirsty, has green poop. Her poop doesn't look like the coccidia pics I've seen , but maybe it hasn't progressed? I have her separated from the flock, drinking...
