Where can I add more ventilation in my coop? Pics included.

It's about 8'x30'. It's a lot longer than it is wide. I've had them for two years now and they're happy and healthy. They free range when we are at home.

Where can I add more ventilation in my coop? Pics included.

Exactly! I would move the roost to one side of the coop, but I have 30 birds, and they use all of that space up. Not enough room for that, unfortunately. Would adding a roof vent or two be sufficient?

Where can I add more ventilation in my coop? Pics included.

Hi Judy. Those pictures are my entire coop, roof line included. The coop roof is slanted, as it's attached to a two car garage. On the shorter side of the coop, the roof is about 4 1/2 feet tall. On the tall side, where the roost is located, It's 7-8 feet tall. You can see both sides in my...

Where can I add more ventilation in my coop? Pics included.

Hi everyone. I would like to ventilate my coop a bit more before winter hits. Northern Minnesota here. Attached are pictures of my coop, which houses 30 wonderful birds. I thought about putting in a roof vent or two, but with the way my coop is set up, the drafts from the vents would hit the...

    Rooster acting weird/antisocial?

I do, I have two other roosters. They and my 15 hens all get along. They're about 7 months old now. No signs of illness, but I just went out to the coop and he was up on the roost with the other chickens again, which is a direct change from last night.

    Rooster acting weird/antisocial?

Hi everyone. I have a polish rooster who has been acting funny for the past 36 hours. Usually he is quite social and likes to be around the other chickens, but last night and today he has been keeping himself separate from everyone. He wasn't on the roost with the others when I checked on him...

Ideas for top of chicken run?

Hello all. I am in the finishing stages of my chicken run, and need ideas for supporting the netting on the roof. My original idea was to use lumber for my run and have it be permanent, but our run is so big (we have 30 birds) the costs for lumber would have wound up being well over $1000...

When can my chicks eat crickets?

My chicks are a week old, I thought it would be fun to toss a few crickets into the brooder. At what point is it safe to have them eat something other than starter feed?

Help! First batch of chicks dying one by one.

It's possible it's cocci, but they we're all vaccinated by our breeder before they we're shipped, so I'm unsure. Plus, their stool is not bloody.

Help! First batch of chicks dying one by one.

Just found another one of the same coloration that is on her way to dying. Very lethargic, won't walk. What could be causing this?

Help! First batch of chicks dying one by one.

Thanks, I should have elaborated more - their water is mixed with an electrolyte/vitamin mix. We have been changing their water twice daily as well. The other chicks are very active - drinking water, eating, chirping, rooting. I don't know what's causing certain ones to die overnight.

Help! First batch of chicks dying one by one.

Hello all. We ordered a batch of 25 chicks from Sandhill Preservation and got them shipped to us Thursday morning. They sent us 28. Two died during shipping, and since then 3 more have died as well. I'm not sure where we are going wrong, or if we can do something else to save them. Here's the...
