I have a question. I am posting from my iPhone and I want to post a picture here. Does anyone know how to do that? The picture icon is asking for an URL and I don't have that and I tried to copy and paste and that did not work. Thank you in advance.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to tell your girls apart? I can tell when all 3 of my RIRs are together and pretty much when I see them one on one. But my kids get confused. I looked at the leg bands but the ones I saw you needed to put on as chicks or need to buy 100...I need 3 :) any other...
Thank you for your help! Can I ask what TSC is? :) lol way back when I went to Trenton State College (when it was still called that) so that's what I think of when I see TSC :) I would also rather try those things first rather than meds...feel the same way with my kids too :)
Oh and yesterday...
They are so pretty!! My mocha escaped her hutch somehow (or was let out as a prank perhaps). Luckily a neighbor found her 2 days later. Before that, she wasn't the most snugly of bunnies, now she loves cuddles! :)
Thank you for the info. Where do you get the VetRx? Do you use a dropper to put it down their throats and is there a truck to get them to keep their mouth open? We are new to the chicken thing :) oh and with the garlic, if I have an allergy to garlic (I get migraines from it...weird, I know)...
Lol :D I love it. Maybe one day...we need to ease into all of this. Having the new one have a cold (?-bubbles in her eyes) already threw us a bit with all that you read about it! We worry about the kids getting colds...now the chickens too?! ;)
They are all so pretty though. I love that the...
Yes, We are considered herbertsville area :)
Shhh...don't tell my husband you can have more than 4 chickens in Brick...he read it was only 4 ;-D lol!
I love that you have a variety. We have 3 RIRs and an araucana. 2 of the reds are laying pretty consistently and the araucana is new to us last...
That must be so cool for him!! :)
I am not far from you...off 88 but on the opposite side of Midstreams. Small world! ;) my husband and I have been saying we are surprised to hear how many people around here have chickens. What kind do you have?
I think you are right about the turkey vultures.
What kind of rabbits? We might get a lop this time. We are not sure of the exact type we have now (bought her at a pet store-bad idea...she's great but they had no idea about bunnies!)
I will keep an eye out for the eagles :)
Oh...I have not seen the eagles but we also had 6 turkey vultures circling our yard a few days ago. My husband says they are not so much of a problem. :/
Between the bunny, 4 hens and our dog...we are starting to look like there is a farm out there at times (the dog lives inside but plays...
Where in point pleasant? I am in the part of brick that is close to point. I saw you posted about the roo...can you have them in point? We can't in brick, which is fine, our neighbors wouldn't like that so much. ;)
Thank you. I was reading about that last night too. We will separate her today. I am not certain the others are pecking at her eye, I just thought maybe they got her by accident. They are all so funny. They peck at her on the ground but all snuggle up close on the roosting bar :).
I am from Brick. We are new to this but my husband did a lot of research (and when I realized he was serious, so did I ;) ) and he and our boys built a coop and a run in our backyard. We aren't allowed to have them be free range in our town, nor would we want them to be due to the hawks and cats...
I am Central Jersey shore area. My family and I got 3RIR hens 2 weeks ago and 1 araucana hen on Friday. 2 of the RIRs are laying now and the araucana was laying at the farm so we assume she is just getting used to her new home.
Hi. We just got our araucana hen on Friday. We have had our 3 RIRs for almost 2 weeks. They are all from the same farm. Today we noticed some clear bubbles...almost look like spit bubbles in one of our araucana's eyes. The RIRs are pecking at her but have had their beaks snipped (at the farm)...
