    Growing fodder for chickens

My local feed store told me I can't use treated wheat/barley for growing fodder. Can anyone tell me why?

    Mealworm farming

I am way too lazy for the three draw method, i dont want to have to keep that good of an eye on the worms. My husband was not thrilled at all. His questions were "Bugs?! Like in the house?, How much does it cost?, Where are you putting them?, Is it going to stink?" You can tell his...

    Mealworm farming

Started keeping chickens in March, just informed my husband that we will now be raising mealworms as well. Pretty sure he hates me now.

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Yes, thank you. This makes me very happy because I think the black one is beautiful. I need to work on my EE sexing skills-or totally lack there of. Hopefully, I'll get better with more experience. I am grateful to you experienced folks more than you'll ever know. And so thankful for BYC!

    hatching eggs

So if you give chicks a probiotic supplement, yogurt, or fermented feed, you don't need the medicated feed. This whole time I thought it killed the cocci! Or really as long as they are living in clean spaces they shouldn't need medicated.

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thanks guys! I thought the white one was a girl until those patches red developed. We'll have to see. I really hope it's a girl. Then I'll only have three roosters to get rid of this year.

Okay, so I was positive both of my EE's were roosters. Now I don't know after aoxa's posts. I guess I have no idea what I'm doing. Mine are 8 weeks.

    Silkie thread!

I have two beautiful little guys I need to re-home in central Ohio. One white and one partridge silkie. They are 8 weeks old, and adorable. They are wonderful foragers. These two are best friends. I have put up something about them on Craigslist with no luck. Let me know if you or someone you...

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I wish I'd known all this before. I doubt my husband will ever let me pick chicks out of the bin again. This is definitely what happened with the silkies. The kids picked out "funny" ones. Oh well, I've accomplished my main goal by having chickens, to get my timid (scared really, my son is the...

    Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

The EE chicks I got from Meyer were so beautiful, and they are still beautiful at 8 weeks. One started out with the darkest chipmunk strips and now is almost completely black with a beard. My other was pretty light on the head and my kids say it looks like a little bald eagle running around...

    Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Yeah, I was just wondering, trying to go off the pictures in the catalog. I have no idea what I'm doing. First I thought it was a rooster because it was acting kind of like one, then I read pullets will do that when establishing the pecking order. I have a lot to learn yet. I'm hoping its a...
