Silkie thread!

ok, so none of those eggs have hatched and I think they've all died. Will my hens ever stop sitting on them? do I need to take them away?
Yes, remove them.
I have started my first breeding pen!!!

Here they are; Ace and his girls Missy (black) & Iris (blue).

So this is my first time breeding. I'm very excited! Then there's generation 2. This is my self-blue chick out of eggs I purchased.

Your BBS pen is looking super!! Love the picture of the chick!
So jealous of you all! You're silkies are all so cute. The two hatchery stock that I have, just don't seem that fluffy. Maybe they'll grow into it, she is only 2 and half months old, so hopefully she still has hope

Hatchery chicks were created to make people fall in love with silkies so they would buy more from breeders! :D
do you guys think the baby on the left will be a salmon?
Partridge comes in many shades. Your chick looks like a normal partridge.
All the beautiful photography I am seeing here made me suck it up this morning and take some real photos (no photos from my iPhone)

Today Marbles is 9 weeks old. I think she is starting to fill in.. Hopefully she keeps it up! Im not seeing any comb at all...

Looking pretty girlie!
Love all the pictures of the youngsters :) I am enjoying my new babies and have 7 more growing up ( 4 silkies and 3 cochins)

Lovely babies, Sherry!!
so, the two chicks I had in my house, one is 2 1/2 weeks and the other is 1 1/2 weeks, I just tucked under my pullet who's sitting on eggs. they're day 23 or 24 and no hatching. and we're leaving for a trip this sunday, so I need the hens to take care of them! well, she is allowing them to lay under her, which is super cute to watch, the chicks love it so much. the rooster is scared of them!!! it is hilarious! so so so funny. I'm hoping this works out, because if it doesn,t I'm going to have to find someone to watch these silly chicks. gah!
Keep a watchful eye on them. Hope it works out.

I'm sick. Something broke into our coop and murdered my 2 black silkies, bantam roo, and 3 baby turkeys. I know it was one of the million cats next door. (Cat hoarder.)
I'm beyond upset. What are my rights here? The cats should be in their own yard!

I would love to have a Silkie, but all the feed stores here selling them as SR...can't guarantee m/f...

I guess I need to try and find someone that has older Silkies? Will they adapt to my 2-1/2 week old chicks?

This is my first time with chickens, and don't know all the pro's and con's on who gets along with who yet...

I live in N. California...not far from Sacramento...in the Foothills.

I am really saddened by your loss. I am so protective of my little ones, and afraid to put them out, but we have a great coop and run for them....but....you just never know....

I just have to show off my new baby. I bought a beautiful buff pair a few months ago. I was thrilled when she started laying. So, I threw a test egg in the incubator and out popped this sweetie!

Wow! I hope my new buff babies turn out like that!!

I have two beautiful little guys I need to re-home in central Ohio. One white and one partridge silkie. They are 8 weeks old, and adorable. They are wonderful foragers. These two are best friends. I have put up something about them on Craigslist with no luck. Let me know if you or someone you know is interested.
