So, earlier this week a raccoon attacked my chickens just after dusk and carried one off. I heard it squawking and managed to scare the raccoon off before he killed her, and only a few of her feathers were missing. Last night, he came back just after dusk again and grabbed a different chicken. I...
Hey y'all,
So, one of my hens went broody and she has eggs of all different ages underneath her. She has already hatched about 10 chicks, but one of the eggs is missing most of the shell but most of the membrane is still intact, and it looks like the shell might've been broken by the hen. The...
I was on vacation, and had my neighbor hatch some eggs for me. They hatched yesterday, and when I took them home today, they had fleas coming off of them! What do I do? They had a dog that is normally outside, inside, but the dog didn't make contact with the chickens. They've never been outside...
My hen was bitten in the head by a raccoon last night/early this morning, and she has been very still and not really drinking anything. I have tried a dropper, but every time I do it, she pulls her head away and turns around. Her head is also still bleeding.
I need pictures and stories about your first flock, first incubation experience, for my book I am writing. if you provide me with you name and email, I'll send a finished manuscript to your email. Thanks Everyone!!

I have two cockerels that I can't keep because they will fight each other, and my BO cockerel charges at my little sister. Our local feed store said we were buying 6 pullets, and we ended up with 3 pullets and 3 cockerels. They are both 7 months old, and we don't really want to kill them.
So, I am building an incubator, and so far I have: hardware cloth, light fixture, fertilized eggs daily, fan, egg cartons, cooler, and a water tray. Is there anything else I need? Please give LOTS of information, as this is my first time trying to hatch chicks. I will be posting pictures later.
