My polish hen has been losing her chest feathers and "top hat" feathers. I thought it was her molting but I saw what looked to be a boil above her right eye and on her chest. Have an appointment this Monday but any advice would help. Thank you. (I can't upload any photos)
Yes my crested one looks like a road runner lol. I actually have two crested but one is older and definitely a pullet. The crested that's pictured is a guessing game. A couple people including the breeder of the babies has said they all look like cockerels. I'm thinking better photos is in order...
Well my four babies have gotten big and are turning into 4 very beautiful juveniles which came from Walli Johnson. I'd like some advice if y'all don't mind. I've been told that all 4 are roos but the crested one and one more I don't see any wattles but of course I'm no chicken expert by any...
Have a couple questions for my fellow Polish owners. My two Polish hens were a mothers day gift from my hubby. I am going to post a couple photos and if y'all wouldn't mind maybe taking a guess at how old they are. I got my first egg yesterday from one of them but don't know which one...
Can't wait for my two. I'm attending a chicken swap next Saturday in my area and will be purchasing a blue and a cream (to me she looks cream but she's mostly white with light brown feathers) pullets from Stephanie Lynn. Then maybe another couple pullets and a roo later on. Now to figure out...
Hi everyone. Thought I'd share the silkie rooster that came along with two polish hens that my husband got me for mothers day. The farmer my husband got the polish from said the silkie had to go too since his bigger roosters beat up on the silkie. All I wanted was to start a nice small flock of...

Please ignore the silkie rooster in the photo he came along for the ride lol. (The guy had too many roosters and the silkie would get beat up by the others...
Thanks Jtabor1387. My step son is going to take the rooster and the golden comet hen (which I don't know how exactly that's going to work since both of them will still be staying on my farm lol) since my husband got me a white silkie rooster and two Golden Laced Polish for mothers day. At least...
I am wondering about my chicken's egg shell color. Last year I had Golden Comet hens and they laid very nice brown eggs. I ended up selling them once I became pregnant and since having my son I've been looking into getting more hens. My step son brought home a Golden Comet hen and a Black...
I hear ya LindaB. I live out in the country so I'm constantly keeping an eye out for predators. My coop like yours is pretty solid so predators can't get in but the run is a work in progress. I have to extend it out since we're getting more laying hens and we also have to get a separate run set...
My dad always said you can read all you want but you need hands on and another favorite he always told me was Trial and error you need trial and error. I tried with golden comet chicks last year and had ups and downs with them. Like starting out with 6 chicks and 3 out of the 6 only making it to...
Alaskan is it possible the rooster I have hasn't filled out enough since he's only a year or is it more likely he's a mix between a bantam and something else?
