    Hens are Roosters??

I hope this is the correct place to post this! We had 24 "Hens" that we raised from chicks we ordered from Murray McMurray 16 months ago. We have been involved with "chickens" for only two years. Well, we decided to downsize, so we just sold 6 White Stars and 6 Black Stars, well the...

    Covering a run................

If I remember correctly, it is in the ground 2' and app. 8' up. We were lucky to have the Barn wall there, we cut strips from 2"x4"s , and used staples to attach that side to the Barn. Don P.S. No the wind has not bothered it yet, it has been up for about a year!

    Covering a run................

Gavanandallison.....I guess you could use "chicken wire over the top, but you would have to have quite a frame for it, if were a large area. We have a 35'x30' covered with "bird netting" that we sewed together with those little "zip-ties". We have a large square with rounded edges, on a 4"x4"...

Good evening........We have 25, 20 week old chicks (pullets), and they are starting to "lay". First 1, then 3, and today there were 9, but we noticed one of the Road Island Reds, had blood on her back side. HELP! I need chicken run building advice!!

Good evening Keeko.....Here is a picture of how we did our run. We made a 28'x36' with "T" posts, and 2"x4" steel wire fence. Then we put the "coop" right up to it, cut a square out for the pop door, and stapled the fence to the coop. Later we covered the entire run with plastic bird netting, so...

    Partition in the Run

Hello Chicken Chat! Yes, we built the "coop". My son and I usually do everything together, and we did think that we might be re-locating it at some time or another, so we built the floor on 4"x4" skids. Then when we want to move it, we just hook up the 'ol 52, and tow it where we want...

    Partition in the Run

    enough room?

Good afternoon! I think you have enough room, outside. By your dimensions, you have 126 s.f. for 5 birds, of coarse the Ducks are larger than the Chickens, but that should be enough room .You didn't mention the SIZE of the "houses", that would be the concern, but they look large enough. Good...

Good evening........After reading so much about "impacted" or "sour" crop, is it possible that my Hens are eating a lot, all of a sudden, because of the cold weather? They are all getting a "swollen crop" every evening, for the past few days. Hopefully, it is fuel for heat...
