I have 5 mixed breed duck eggs that our broody hen has been sitting on for 27 days. Everything I have found says 28 days to hatch. But I forgot to figure in the fact they are mixed breed. Does anyone have an idea when they will actually hatch. The male is Rouen and the females are Khaki Campbell...
We cleaned it out and put some stuff we got at the farm store on it. She seems fine thought we noticed a small hole on the other side of her after cleaning the big wound. It doesn't smell, there was no green. I think the yellow in the picture is fat. I was really surprised that she just stood...
I noticed this injury today. It looks like it could be a few days old. She has given no indication she is injured. Unfortunately I when I checked her again it looks worse. The flys and yellow jackets have taken notice and it looks like something has lain eggs in it. She is eating and drinking...
Unfortunately all the eggs did not make it. We found another broke and 1 missing. The last egg exploded when we checked on it. There was a baby in there but it had died.
I made her a spot. She was super mad at first but she is calm now. Just laying on the eggs. She is stinky though. She was laying on the eggs including the broken one. I would have washed her off but I didn't want to kick her out of broody mode.
I have a gold laced Wyandotte that has been sitting on 5 duck eggs for 2 1/2 weeks. Everything was going fine until I found a broken egg on friday. I just found another broken egg. She almost never leaves the nest but when she does other chickens go in the chicken house. Is she crushing the eggs...
This is a picture I just took. They were moved up to the pack n play that we have used for kittens in the past. They get along great with the chicks incase anyone wanted to know.
I was kind of thinking that too. The black and brown looked like runner babies when I first got them but the black is slim and tall and the brown is heavier and short.
