Bantam Cochin - Mille Fleur/Calico Wanted

Looking for someone who breeds Mille Fleur/Calico bantam cochins. Either someone who ships chicks or older birds, or someone who is local to New Mexico or surrounding. Interested in starting a little breeding project on my own :)

    Calico Cochin Thread

Thanks everyone. I figured I would ask about the other cochins just because I'm not sure how easy it would be to tell their eggs apart unless I built an entirely separate enclosure, which I could do but I like to freerange my birds and at that point you can't really control where they go to lay...

    Calico Cochin Thread

I'm interested in acquiring some Calico Bantam cochins. I was considering finding a breeder who sells breeder pairs or trios, maybe young birds, or even chicks. I just really want one rooster but would be willing to take on a couple in order to choose my favorite. Q1) I have a few questions...

Barred Rock gender and feather Q?

Oh and here "he" is near one of the Marans. Are Marans normally much larger than rocks at this age? I always thought rocks were but maybe they just grow slower.

Barred Rock gender and feather Q?

Okay so I picked up 5 "pullets" about 4 weeks ago. 2 barred rock & three cuckoo Marans. The Marans WERE younger and smaller, now they are bigger than the rocks. They were apparently 5&7 weeks when I got them, respectively. So my rocks are now 10/11 weeks but I get the impression that they are...

Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Asking for a friend, this is her 10 week old maybe roo. The color pattern seems dramatic, but the red coming through on the shoulders is light, it's hard for us to tell. I'm no expert on EEs so here to ask :) I'm leaning towards roo because its not looking like the many pullets shown here. Thanks

    Black australorps w/red

What's the deal on this pullet? She's my "most mature" girl out of the bunch, I think they are around 16 weeks old, without counting. She has red around her face and her neck, I dont know much about them as they are my first. Is this normal? When will they start looking like hens, all...

    Light Sussex breeder?

I live in New Mexico, can't find a light Sussex out here (mosly speckled) and I'm looking for pullets, but at this point might even venture for some chicks. Any good breeders around nearby or that ships?

Heritage breed best suited for laying?

So we are starting our little hobby farm. I have 9 chickens currently, non yet laying (but soon I hope!). We are starting a flock of Olde English Babydoll Sheep, a heritage breed and a small (miniature) sized sheep, to be herded by my Miniature American Shepherd. I have a miniature horse as...

My chicks refuse to sleep in their coop

I've heard locking them in even for 24 hrs works. I didn't do that, and a month later they've been going in at night no prob.
