Hubby and I keep bees and chickens. We have about 40 chickens and 8 hives of bees. We have Russian honeybees and Italian honeybees. We harvested only 10 gallons of honey this year. Last year we got 13 gallons. We also make chapstick and lotion with the beeswax and honey.
Hey folks! I know y'all are going to think I'm off my rocker, but I've got some chickens to get rid of. 2 of them are Rhode Island Red roosters that are about 28 wks old. They are not mean yet or anything, I just don't need them. I will also be having several hens that are not laying anymore...
My heart is broken...TSC is out of pullets. I don't think they're getting anymore in and I didn't get mine fast enough. Anyone on here have less than 2 week old sex links for sale? Looking for about 6. Will spend around $20...
Saying a prayer for you and your family today, love. The Lord works in mysterious ways and His ways are not our ways. Everything He does is for the good of those that love Him. I pray peace and comfort envelope the family at this time and for healing . God is good
Woke up this morning, day 20, to 5 baby chickens hatching! 4 are fully out, waiting on #5 and the other 15 to start pipping. Not going to slep at all!!
Thinking I need some guineas...Came in from outside after just 2 hours of sitting in a chair watching the kids play and had 2 ticks crawling on me! I already have 35 free ranging chickens, but live in the middle of nothing but cedar trees everywhere! Ticks out here are crazy!! Can't even go...
Stayed up till 2:30 this morning filtering and jarring honey from our bees! It was an awful sticky mess everywhere, but the honey sure was good. Got 5 gallons of honey sitting in my kitchen now because we ran out of jars lol.
For a still air incubator the temp needs to be around 102*F and for one w/ a fan its 99.5*F. 60% humidity is not good! I keep mine around 25% up until lockdown at day 18, then boost it up to 60%ish. You can candle up to lockdown as needed :) Enjoy your hatch!
My kids LOVE steamed veggies and raw ones too. They do however hate stir- fry. The hubby and I like it, but then again we both love Chinese food lol. The kids on the other hand detest it- all of it. To each their own...
I have some pool noodles around my yard, no pool though- go figure. Anyway, my chickens got to them and ate them nearly up before anyone noticed. Its been a few days and nobody has been sick or died thank goodness! I was scared though. I also am using the Styrofoam cartons for hatching :)
I don't think I was ever sane lol! I've just ALWAYS had kids. Had my first in high school, she is almost 16 now and then another when I was 19, then another at 23, then later on 2 more. I am a very fertile gal lol. Kids are the 'norm' for me. I think I would feel awkward without them after all...
