Oh, I tried almost every antibiotic there was....nothing seemed to help. I hope I NEVER have another chicken to have a problem like that...it is awful! It is hard to sit and watch a pet deteriorate like that and you cant help, or at least dont know HOW to help. Every morning I hope he has...

    Rumpless...??

Yes, I have noticed that about her being slow at laying. She lays an egg every 2-3 days. Oh well...the rooster isnt old enough right now to fertilize the eggs. Maybe she will lay some this summer when he is older. I'd like to try to hatch a few to see what I get from it. Thanks for all the...

    Rumpless...??

Well, no matter what they are, I'm gonna keep them. They are very friendly and cute little chickens. But I was so hoping they were Araucanas. (but without the colored egg, I guess they are not.....)

    Rumpless...??

Well, from what I read, the Araucanas/ Ameraucanas- when crossed with anything, the colored egg thing passes to them. What I meant about the "Araucana gene" was how they pass on the blue/ green legs and tinted eggs. So I thought if they were even a cross, they would still lay a colored egg. Her...

    Rumpless...??

I bought a pair of chickens at a local poultry show. The man I bought them from told me they were bantam Araucanas. The hen is solid white, and the roo has red hackles and a blackish body. The roo is very young, maybe 3 months old. The hen is older. I have never owned araucanas, so I didnt know...

Not 100% sure, I bought these chickens from a friend, I'll have to ask where she got them... But they have the correct characteristics of Australorps, and have been penned so no crossing with my other breeds since I've owned them. I just have never seen a solid chick come from these.

Dark Brahma roo with foot problems.... anybody know what is wrong???

Yuck! I checked out the mite photos but they dont look like his feet. I had a chicken years ago that had a mild case of scaly leg, which I promptly treated. His case isnt scaly leg. His scales still lay flat on his legs and arent crusty. They are turning grayish black on the tips of his toes...

Dark Brahma roo with foot problems.... anybody know what is wrong???

No, I dont think it could have been frostbite at that time, he was born last spring and I bought him before there were any freezing temps around here....and the man I bought him from was local also. I'm leaning more toward some type of genetic disorder, like maybe a circulation problem or maybe...

Dark Brahma roo with foot problems.... anybody know what is wrong???

Hi- I bought this gigantic beautiful Brahma roo at our state fair this past fall. He was so huge I just had to have him. Brought him home and noticed that he had a funny gait to his walk, sort of like he was stomping his feet with each step. He stayed the same for several months. A few weeks...

Hi- I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this little hen..

Boy, I believe I have a Heinz 57 banty! I got these from a lady off of Craigslist, and she met me in town with them, so I have no way to find out what breeds she had. I'll just put her in with my blue OE rooster (that I got somewhere else) and maybe she'll be happy with him.
