Maybe use Glad Press'n'Seal wrap? I don't know how it would do in 21 days of heat and humidity, but it's food safe, and it works great to line the bottom of birdcages!
Is not pooping a symptom of sour crop? I squished her crop about and heard some gas bubbles, but there is no smell. Still no poop, drinking a few drops of water every half hour or 15 min.
My 7 month old splash Cochin is sick :( I thought she was going broody, so she has been in the broody cage since Sunday evening(2/9). She was acting normally aside from wanting to sit in her laying spot, plucking her breast a bit, and getting poofy/ clucking angrily when I picked her up out of...
My white crested black polish hatchery chick just started laying yesterday at exactly 6 months old. No eggsquat, no cackling, nothin'! She only became interested in the nest box a few days ago. I was really surprised. She is the first to begin laying out of my entire mixed flock of the exact...
I'm sure glad I found this thread. Thanks to those who posted examples, and educated me about the alarm call.
I just came in from closing the girls' door... Boy oh boy what an evening ordeal. We're chicken-sitting three stranger hens and tonight is the first night. I put them up in a separate...
I have one White Faced Black Spanish in my mixed flock and she has turned out to be a real sweety. She's naturally really friendly and is the first to greet me in the morning and peck around my feet until I pick her up (supremely easy to catch, it's not even an egg squat.). It must come...

I got some BluKote and it seems to have worked for the most part! I've seen one particular pullet, my buff cochin, pecking almost every body else, including the polish, a little bit, though. But no more ganging up :)
I'll pick up some BluKote today. Hopefully they have some at TSC. Thank you so much for the advice! Great idea about trimming. Never thought to do that, but I'll do it if it keeps my Polish girls out of trouble!
I have a mixed group of pullets from McMurray that are all about 5 weeks old. I've got two white crested black polish chicks and a white polish and ALL THREE are getting bullied by the group.
The others have been pecking at the crests, pulling feathers out, bruising and making their heads...
I'm brand new to this forum, but I have been stalking for months. Happy to make my first post and eager to get some advice!
I shared an order of "Ornamental Layers" from McMurray with a friend, so I have 20 mixed who-knows-whats that should be all girls... However! I'm having suspicions about...
