It's rare that they'll starve themselves. I check their crop regularly and if it feels full, I leave them alone but if it empty I take them off of the nest and set them by the feeder. They'll usually eat and return to the nest. Just keep an eye on her but she should be fine.
If you call your state agriculture department they can point you in the right direction.
But don't panic just yet. I have had a few times I thought I had mareks in my flock and either it was something else and they recovered or a necropsy determined it was something else. Good luck.
I raised my turkeys with chickens and have never had an issue. The worm chickens give to turkeys is called a Cecal worm and it isn't a problem with regular worming of the whole group.
My black spanishes are sweet and talkative and some of my favorite birds. They've been good free rangers and...
I have a golden laced polish Roo and 3 silver laced polish hens. If I were to breed them would the chicks be a mess or would they come out either silver or gold?

I have about 20 different breeds with several birds of each breed and while the breed standard is good as a general rule, each bird is very much an individual. I have super friendly birds of each breed and more skittish birds of each breed even though all were raised the same way.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and get some pictures of the ones I'm thinking are my best prospects and get some opinions. I'm new at this so I need lots of help. :)
How soon do I need to worry about a chick's curled toes? It hatched this morning and 2 that hatched after are already kind of standup up but this one's toes are curled up and it's not standing as well. Do I need to intervene now or give it some time?
I'm hoping to show some. I need them to grow up and pick my best prospects. I have a gold laced Wyandotte I'm very hopeful about. The rest will be production
My eggs just started hatching a few hours ago. I have 2 out, 1 pipped and 7 left. Now my incubator isn't turning off and on frequently enough so the temp is spiking too high then dropping too low. Early this morning it was holding steady. What gives and what do I do?
