I'm looking to rescue a hen from a factory farm instead of hatching my hens' eggs. The closest factory farm with layers to me is in Muhlenberg County, KY but I can't find the name of it to give them a call.
Does any one know of any other factory farms with layers around Louisville, KY or...
I don't let my chicks with the others because of the rooster. He will stay inside until he can go outside in a "mini-coop" and then merge with the rest of the uncooped chickens. I don't think it was one of the chickens though because there was no egg shell pieces anywhere or chicks "parts."
I had at least two of my eggs expected to hatch this weekend but...Today, my two broody hens decided to get up and take a break but while I was inside I heard my rooster squawking so I ran back out... but I was too late. There was an egg, with what looked like a bite had been taken out, along...
I haven't raised any chicks in a glass aquarium but I would consider it this coming year if it is safe. I am just concerned with with the lack of air flow. What do you keeps your chicks in?
Thanks
Good luck with your 'tiel! talkcockatiels.com is a great forum for all things Cockatiel. This site is also great but talkcockatiels.com is all about cockatiels! I have an account on there and use it quite frequently for any questions I might have.
We only let the hens hatch out eggs in the spring, if that counts as breeding. We will definitely do something about keeping her away from him for awhile! Thanks
Do you have a local vet? If she continues in that manner I would take her to the vet. I'm sure others with more experience will help you but good luck!
We recently got two more hens because our crazy rooster was breaking down our two hens pretty bad, to the point head feathers and back feathers were beginning to "disappear". A few minutes ago we went outside and one of our hens (not the new one) was bleeding pretty bad so we picked her up...
Here is my male, Ricky, he will be 5 in just a couple of months.
And here is my female, Penny, she just turned one.
Everybody on here has beautiful birds!
Above are the new light bantam brahma hens
These are the frizzle crosses- the smooth coat is her sister so we aren't sure why she isn't frizzled. We call her the reversed frizzle.
If I were to cross my buff bantam brahma rooster with my light bantam brahma hen, what color would would most likely come out? Would these crosses be show worthy?
I may be interested in showing the crosses next year or maybe even the light hens, just for fun though!
Is there a thread on...
