On letting the girls out this morning,i noticed there were lots of our jg hens feathers in the coop. Should i be concerned about this?
There mainly big feathers.
She seems fine,with no obvious problem. She is eating and drinking ok,and socialising ok.
Theres only hens in our group so not a...
Grapes are my girls favorite treat. I cut each grape into 8 pieces to avoid chocking,and feed around 4pm once i know they have had plenty of pellets.
Also love fresh figs,melon,apple and broccoli stems.

Please can someone advise me on how best to wash my girls?
The last four we got were from a filthy farm that didnt look after its stock well, and there covered in muck.
We want to clean them but dont want to cause them any stress.

Weve 12 brown warrenns, 2 wyandottes, 2 ixworths, 3 friz or frazzles, 1 friz cross, 1 brahma, 1 bluebell, 1 sulmtaler,
Absolutely loving looking after these smart birds,i find it really rewarding and relaxing too.
Ive just picked up two ixworth hens and two free white wynadottes.
Really pleased to have them join the family of roamers in the back garden.
There was a bit of a tussle between the ixworths and the bluebell and brahma,but all settled down by roosting time.

Weve had some big rain latley and the girls dont go in there house to get out of the wet,they just sit there and occasionaly shake off the water.
Is that mormal?
Im unsure of when they started laying as ive just taken them on,there said to be a year old. They have just gone through molting stage.
The eggs are fine to eat,just odd shaped.

I recently took 12 light sussex from a farmer that was about to release them to the foxes for dinner,he said they were at the end of there prime laying at two years old and no use to him.
They were skinny, and sad girls at the beggining but with much time spent with them they are now beautiful...
