    Here it is with the fence started for the run. I also managed to make a waterer for cheap. I will post pics of everything when I am done. I still have to make a feeder too. Shooting for next weekend to get my hens!

    Run fence height

    I was just going to run a fence around the area I want my chickens. I have 4ft fencing and I am looking at getting RIRs. Will I need to cover the top to keep them from flying over the fencing?

    Got the last of the siding on and the slats for the roof! Wife is going to paint it tonight and I'll put the roofing on tomorrow. (got about 60 linear feet of 38" wide metal roofing for free from a friend)

    I don't have any yet! I am building this one for my first flock. I will only have 4-6 to start. I am hoping Chicken Wire will be sufficient. The only predators I have in the area are dogs (because the dogs run the rest of the predators off) and I have solutions for them.

    I made a tool from 6" of 1x1 angle iron welded to a railroad spike. It distributes the force from my hammer and keeps them from becoming splinters.

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/817365/building-my-first-coop Overlap depends on the size of the boards! I would just make sure it covers up the nails. It is time consuming but looks really good.

    I decided to build my first coop! Here is my progress! Everything is from reclaimed pallets so far I have less than $15 in this coop!
