So it is possible that she will go broody. ive been told leghorns dont go fully broody and wont ever hatch any eggs.i cant find anyone who has had success after 21 days?
Hi have a 9 month old leghorn that sits on eggs draws them under her when placed near growls and pecks at me then after a few hours gets off them and runs around squarking for half an hour. is she broody or as broody as leghorn gets? i heard they are useless for hatching chicks.
yes i am aware of that this is different and is a direct path inside the egg as if that small spot is misformed.its not a simple calcium deposit on the outside of the shell.
One of my Lohman browns laid a nice hard thick egg thismorning with two small clustery growths on the shell when i scratched at it it crumbled away and a tiny hole leaked out some white. ive never seen it before? the egg was fertile.
This guy is crossed with a white sussex and is already twice the size of my leghorns .also is it normal that he only mates the white birds i have Australorps and lohman browns and he despises them and only attacks them all hens?
Hi my 16 week old leghorn x rooster is fertilizing the eggs of my 9 month old leghorns .He has been mounting them since he was 10 weeks .Are there any problems that arise with chicks of young roosters?
lohmans are a hybrid and do very strange things and have crazy personalities but are very very dominant .i saved mine from a battery farm they couldnt walk and had no feathers now they are great my chooks roam over acres with my dogs and go to the pen at night .they love it
Haha good stuff. to be honest i have purebred leghorns and lohman browns but the barnyard chooks i have outlay them in quantity and size.that rooster started mating my older hens at 12 weeks at 16 weeks he is twice the size of my leghorns.do i have a monster on the way?
i bought the rooster chicks as White Sussex x leghorn and the black chicks as Australorp x rhode island reds. the guy told me lots of contradicions during our 10 mins together so i assumed i had all roosters of who knows what.happy to hear different
Yes im pretty sure they are girls 16 weeks old and no comb out yet.i only thought boys because of facing off each other with neck feathers flared up.i only saw it once
