I personally don't like colony housing, but if you are going to do it, one thing I would not recommend is to keep the buck in with the does. He will constantly breed the does and they will often have babies before the last kits are weened . A great article about colony rabbit is here...

i would not recommend wood or pvc frames. i thought when i built my wood and wire cages i though it would be fine have a wood frame but my doe has chewed one of the corners up pretty bad and she has only been in it for a bit over a week. they WILL chew ANYthing you let them so they wil chew on...

i had the same problem. for me it was the size of the pellets. your feed store should have crumbled layer food too. if that doesn't work try switching food.
