The regulations are pretty difficult. The they to be certified by vet, have vaccinations, heath cerificates and so on...that is for cats.
I think they are pretty involved for chickens too. Go to the USDA site and look up exporting chickens.
I'm moving to Northern Italy in about 6 weeks! Hoping to keep a few chickens there AND learn to speak Italian! Is it hard to keep chickens...are
there lots of regulations and such? I am going to be near Vicenza. Ciao!
Back in the early 2000's I was in Appenzell Switzerland. When I heard the chicken name, Appenzeller Sptizhauben, I had to get one. Boy was I in for a treat! What lovely birds. I started with four...because of there "hair cuts", I named them John, Paul George and Ringo...Paul and George...
We had bears around in Northern NY. I saw one cross my street a few months before I moved.
I am headed to midcoast Maine next week for a week! Love it up there!
Hi Kansas Chicken People!
I moved here to Ft. Riley about a year ago from Northern NY and had to give up my chickens! :-(
If I can ever get off of this Army post, I would like to have some chickens again. What are your greatest
hazards and problems keeping them here in Kansas. In northern...
I had two Royal Palms in a nest together hatch a Appenzellar Spitzhauben!!!! I thought for sure they would crush the poor thing, but they didn't and she grew to adulthood!
I have wild turkeys that come and go. Even with that, mine stay pretty close to home. There was one exception though.
I had a Royal Palm that decided that she liked one of the girls next door. If she saw her get off the school bus in the afternoon,
she would follow her home. More than once...
I have a 3 yo Bourbon Red Tom. His mate was killed last year, so he
rules over a bunch of assorted chicken hens. Over the last week or so
he has started to challenge me a bit. Nothing too bad that a 2x4 doesn't
fix. Is he getting more aggressive due to spring coming on and will he
get worse...
I'm not much of a meat eater...actually, I don't eat it at all, but I feed some to my family. I would like to raise some turkeys
next year and have some of it made into turkey sausage. I discovered the other day, when I cooked one of my extra roosters
that the meat was VERY lean and I would...
I bought some to keep sheep in recently but it also keeps my Tom in. He got zapped once and has great respect for it now. I don't know about hens as I lost both of mine to a fox a month back.
I can't supervise them. I have too much going on. I tried to give the too in the nest water tonight and they nearly pecked my hand off! Can I just trust them to go drink and eat?
We are in the midst of a heat wave here in the NE and I suddenly have 3 broody chickens!!!!! Two are in the same nest and one in another nest.
Is this normal? I'm running out of nest space!!!!!
