    Breeding to get white polish

Hello....I am wondering what are the possible combinations that will produce a solid white polish bird? I hatched eggs that were from white crested black and silver laced...supposed to be 2 different pens from the breeder but somehow I ended up with a gorgeous white hen. I lost her...she was egg...

    Lavender (self-blue) silkies

Hello- yes they are. Very sweet and very solid. We actually ended up with 7. We have 4 left...2 of which look like they are mixed with something other than silkie. They came from a hatchery. Coloring is really good...crests not so good but together with a good quality hen will make beautiful babies.

    Lavender (self-blue) silkies

I have 4 lavender silkie roosters. 5 months old right now. Got these from a hatchery. They are descent quality. They seem to be mixed with something other than silkie somewhere in the generations to get the color. Solid bodies on the small side. Not really fluffy but the coloring is very nice...

Hello....do little red wattles automatically mean rooster? Also.... I have chicks hatched 5/21 that are already starting to crow (so I know those are roosters) is this normal for Polish? My silkies didn't start until they were about 6 months.

    Hand carrying eggs on plane??

Hello- So I figured I'd post a follow-up...we were flying out of Sacramento, CA and I really think the size of the airport may have figured into the experience. TSA was not phased at all. I happen to have TSA Precheck so my husband and I were the only people in line at approx 9 pm. They wanted...

Lost my chicks on day 20

The first 3 I put in the hatcher with hatching chicks. But I put them in on day 19 because I suspected they might be delayed due to low incubator temp. I take the chicks out 6 hours after they hatch. So humidity was as high as 85 but usually dropped to 65 after chicks dried. They pipped on day...

    Internally pipped but no peeping

in case someone ever finds this thread with a similar situation...she died. She drowned in fluid in the air cell. The reason she was not making a sound was because she had aspirated the fluid. Not sure why. I've asked the question on the incubation board but no response. All of my shipped eggs...

Lost my chicks on day 20

This is a first for me. I have had exceptionally good luck hatching shipped eggs in an incubator. I usually get better than 90%. So I kept these eggs at about 25% humidity. I think my temp may have been low for this hatch. I think my incubator is dying. Most of the babies pipped internally and...

    Internally pipped but no peeping

I have a chick that is probably a little early. I was worried because these are shipped eggs and the air cells were really bad. There is very large saddled air cell and not much room at all for the chick. She was internally pipped and not making any noise. So I made a small hole in the shell and...

What's the difference between frizzle, frazzle and sizzle?

Hello- i got some Polish eggs from a friend. I ended up with this tiny guy. His feathers don't look like the other frizzles. Is this a frizzle or a frazzle? He is healthy and his feathers don't seem brittle. He is almost 2 weeks old now. Thank you!

Chicks are picking feathers off baby's head

Hello - I have a group of 2 week old chicks. The group has started picking on my beautiful Polish chick. He had a gorgeous poof on his head but they are picking him raw. What can I do to stop this? What can I put on it to help it heal? Will coconut oil make it worse for him?Anything white to...
