Internally pipped but no peeping

I have a chick that is probably a little early. I was worried because these are shipped eggs and the air cells were really bad. There is very large saddled air cell and not much room at all for the chick. She was internally pipped and not making any noise. So I made a small hole in the shell and membrane. I can see her beak moving but she is not making any sound. She s moving her beak but I have always gotten at least a faint peep out of these guys. I am quite sure it is too soon to hatch her out. Anyone else have this end with a positive outcome?

Chicks can internally pip fit a day or longer before hatching. If you are that close to hatching, better to not open your incubator, as that may adversely affect not only that egg, but the other eggs.

You might want to check out the Hatching 101 article in the Learning Center, it has excellent advice for many situations.

Yes, I had a quail egg that literally never peeped until he hatched! I saw the internal pip and then even when he made the external pip, still never peeped. I was very worried that something was wrong with him since he wasn't peeping but it did end up being fine. . How big of a hole did you open up on the egg? Got a pic? Usually the eggs that pip first take the longest to hatch. And now that you've exposed some of the membrane you might want to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't dry out.

in case someone ever finds this thread with a similar situation...she died. She drowned in fluid in the air cell. The reason she was not making a sound was because she had aspirated the fluid. Not sure why. I've asked the question on the incubation board but no response. All of my shipped eggs died the same way on day 20 or 21. All but 2 of the eggs from my own flock hatched fine. Unfortunately...there was no way to save her or any of the others.
