This is RED. She was a Rhode Island Red. Unfortunately the DH had to cull her last week. We were given her in 2008 and she was at least a couple of years old at that time. She was the last of our original flock.
Thank you all for your advice. Unfortunately he did not make it. He passed about 10 minutes after I got home with the penicillin.
Hopefully this never happens again but I now have the necessary medicines to start treatment faster.
Thank you all again.
As of this morning he is still alive but does not seem to be interested in any foods...crumble, eggs, yogurt. I used a dropper to get him to take some water with save a chick electrolytes in it. I would say maybe 2 ccs of water. Does not seem to want to walk either.
I will try and pick up...
And it is a rather large wound. It actually goes up under the wing. I did not take photos of that because I hated to bother him again so soon after his iodine treatment
Thank you! I will certainly offer scrambled eggs in the morning.

I had purchased some neosporin ointment to slather on but I am worried about hurting him further.
I now have BLU-KOTE that I will apply when I clean again.

I have 3 Buff Orphingtons that I purchased 5 weeks ago as Pullets. But am now wondering if they are actually cockerels. They are now 9 weeks old. Thoughts?
Thank you for the information. Unfortunately I can not find the correct post about treating with sulfadimethoxine as a follow up. It was here on Backyardchickens but My bookmark disappeared. I read so much information on treatments that I can not go directly back to the post. I will take...
Tuesday morning, I found one of my four pullets which are about 6 weeks old had red bloody poop. They are all very alert and acting normal. The red bloody poop is the only sign....... I immediately started all four pullets on Corid 9.6% - 1 teaspoon to 1 gallon of water. I know that I am to...
Thank you! I recently went ahead and purchased the ADOR1 for my girls. We all love it! Was easy to install and so far so good. We have been using it about 3 months now.
