Thanks for all the help trying to identify these nasty things! I've treated their feed with the Strike since I had it and will keep a close eye on things. If I see anything else I'll treat with one of your recommendations!
Would they wiggle on their own? Whatever it was they were alive. I'll keep an eye, but thankfully I didn't see them today. If I was going to give them the Strike individually about how many pieces should I give them? Maybe just a few then mix the rest in the food?
Guess I should have taken pictures, didn't have my phone on me at the time. They were smaller though, like more maggot sized, but I'm pretty sure they were not maggots.
Since I already have the Strike I'll just use it, but maybe try to get each of them to eat a few before mixing into the food? Then use something else going forward.
I mixed the whole bottle with a bag of feed and let them eat it until it was done. I refilled their feed containers a couple days ago with untreated food. I've got 22 chickens and wanted to be sure they all ate it so I didn't refill anything until they'd eaten all the treated food.
Last week a used Rooster Booster wormer to worm my birds. I hadn't seen any worms but just did it as a precaution. I was cleaning the poop board yesterday and saw lots of worms in the poop. Shouldn't the wormer have killed them? I went to the feed store today and got Strike III type B wormer...
I went ahead and left it to dry up on it's own. I was able to trim off a good portion of it but theres still a stub there. About how long does it usually take to fall all the way off? I tried putting it with the other babies, but I think they'll peck it to death so I'll wait until the stub is...
One of my chickens was sitting on a bunch of eggs and since they were staggered in hatching she lost interest in sitting on the rest after the first one hatched the other day. Yesterday I bought an incubator to try to hatch them myself. 3 have hatched, the last one did overnight and has a very...
So I've got a broody frizzle, she began sitting a couple weeks ago and I meant to move her but got busy and didn't. Long story short the other chickens were laying in the nest too so there are a bunch of staggered eggs. I moved her and one hatched a few days ago but the others haven't yet and...
There is probably an answer here somewhere but honestly I'm so upset right now I don't have it in me to look.
One of my chickens had been acting off lately and I suspected worms. I went to the feed store to look for a wormer and the bottle said that you can't eat the eggs after the chicken...
OK good! I've been so stressed all day! I tried to cover the drafty areas, I don't think there is a direct draft on her and I've got 2 heat lamps right in front of the nest. I'll just cross my fingers that all goes well :) Thanks!
I had a silkie go broody and went ahead and let her sit on her one egg and gathered a couple more over the next day just to see what would happen. I really had no idea if she'd stay there or even if they were fertile, but figured probably since I have 2 busy boys. Anyways… my coop is kinda...
