Comment by 'valleychicks' in article 'A UFO Chicken Spaceship Coop that is Out of This World'

I love seeing things that no longer serve their purpose being used for something else. The UFO Coop was such a great idea!

Just In Time Hatching Egg AUCTION and BIN Thread

Someone, I think (Prairie Fleur) seemed upset they missed the sale from the 24hour page. I didn't know if you saw that.

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ok. Thank you! I will keep an eye on his comb and go ahead and get the Tylan just in case. Next question. What do you do if your chicks are pecking each other? Up the protein? Just gave them meal worms for the first time. They are on Flock Raiser which has 18% protein. I was wondering if I...

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Could I use a needle for insulin? I have some of my grand dogs on hand. Also do you think I should give him any? He is eating a drinking and crowing. His eye lid is still swollen but not as bad. I'm so sorry to hear about your fur baby. I'm not sure I even need the antibiotic but wanted some...

Yeah, I've been using the Vetericyn spray and eye wash. I just wanted to have the right antibiotic in case he needed it. Thanks!

    YO GEORGIANS! :)

Does anyone know what antibiotic I can give my rooster for an injury? He got hurt pretty bad on his face and has a swollen eye. I'm worried about infection. I tried posting in the emergency area but haven't gotten a reply.

Rooster has swollen eyelid from fighting with another rooster.

Our Speckled Sussex rooster was injured on his comb and face during a fight with another rooster. His left eye is swollen shut. I've been putting triple antibiotic ointment on his eyelid for a couple of days now. I separated him from all others as soon as I found him injured. I noticed today...

    The Buckeye Thread

Yes that is where they were hurt, under their wing just on one side. But when I checked his spur that would go on that side nothing was sharp. The spurs are round like the end of a finger and are maybe 1/2 to 1" long. Where do you get the aprons from? I bought one for another hen last year but...

    The Buckeye Thread

That's ok. I started a new thread. Maybe I did it right. I just thought to ask here because my rooster and hens are Buckeyes so I was looking for experience from other breeders of Buckeyes.

    The Buckeye Thread

I was told to start a new thread so I guess I wasn't supposed to post on here. Their spurs are small and round so I don't think it was the spurs. I live in GA and it's already warm during the day so saddle aprons would probably be too hot. Thank you for your advice.

    Experiences with the Buckeye Breed

Has anyone else had problems with their Buckeye Rooster's nails cutting their hens? I don't know if he is just too big or heavy for the hens or what. Even though his nails didn't seem sharp to me I used a Dremel tool to round them out so they are not sharp at all. I had to separate the rooster...

April Fools 2016 - New Development: Chicken Feed That Changes Egg Shell Color!

So yesterday at our Farmers Market I had someone come up to look at my eggs I had set out for sale. She and a few other people were from out of town staying in our little town to go see the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, GA. She saw my Easter Egger green/blue eggs and called her female...

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Sorry I'm reporting so late. Life happened so it's been crazy around here. I had 22 out of 32 to hatch. The eggs started hatching on the 25th and stopped on the 27th just after midnight with a couple of early blood rings and 6 late quitters.

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

I will be setting 32 eggs, mostly EE and OE and one Toppy Game/Silkie cross egg. I was hoping to get another of the game silkie cross but she is being stingy.

The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Ok. I see I'm on the list now. I read the different contests. For the hatch a long where do I give the amount of eggs I will be setting and do I need to give the breed or type of chicken eggs I plan to set?
