.. Went to be with six and woke up to seven or eight I think?

Now that is good chicken math. Think I see 6 for sure, could be 7?!

Vetericyn? I don't think it's an antibiotic, but it is for wound care, etc. On their website, it shows a product called Pink Eye Spray, but says it can be used for irritation or eye abrasions also.

They also make an Opthalmic Gel, too. I think I saw that at TSC one time, but I can't remember.

It says that it's not an antibiotic though. I think it is to prevent infection.
Yeah, I've been using the Vetericyn spray and eye wash. I just wanted to have the right antibiotic in case he needed it. Thanks!

Well, yesterday was busy. Just so you get the gist of what I go thru to clean my vacation home after renters leave, I registered 17,176 steps or 6.94 miles on my fitbit for the day. That was just doing all the laundry, putting sheets back on the beds and putting all clean laundry away. Also, cleaning out the refrigerator and cleaning the hot tub. And, of course chicken chores. Today, will be all the bathrooms, dusting, cleaning the kitchen out, refrig, microwave, stove, and recleaning all the stainless steel pots and pans. (Renters never clean them very well.....that's what those steel wool pads are for, renters!)

We just buried our little Irwin between the other dogs in the pet cemetery. Will be making a cross for him later. I'm so glad he went in his sleep. He had a bad day yesterday and we knew we were going to have to make a decision about him. I'm thankful to him for taking that out of our hands. He will be missed!

This morning we went to the dump and then to the feed store to get a small bag of turkey food for when these turkeys hatch (got 2 pips now!) While there, guess what they had!

Polish female chicks! I bought all 7! 5 buff and 2 gold laced ones! Anyone interested in some, let me know! I will be keeping only 2 or 3. They others were for resale!

I use Tylan 50, but it's packaged as an injection type. I buy small needles from the pharmacy. You can google 'using tylan 50 for chickens' or something like that. It's easy to give the chicken shots in the breast area.
Could I use a needle for insulin? I have some of my grand dogs on hand. Also do you think I should give him any? He is eating a drinking and crowing. His eye lid is still swollen but not as bad. I'm so sorry to hear about your fur baby.

I'm not sure I even need the antibiotic but wanted some on hand just in case. Here is the rooster I'm talking about. Do you think he needs the antibiotic? No puss or anything just swollen. And he will open it just a tiny bit to see me trying to get him and react trying to get away.

That's the type of needle I use. My old pug use to have diabetes and needed two shots of insulin a day. But, if your roo is eating and drinking, maybe you could just put some Neosporin on the bad parts and then just watch him. You will notice his crop beginning to shrink if he starts doing bad.

Ok. Thank you! I will keep an eye on his comb and go ahead and get the Tylan just in case.

Next question. What do you do if your chicks are pecking each other? Up the protein? Just gave them meal worms for the first time. They are on Flock Raiser which has 18% protein. I was wondering if I could grind up BOSS and mix in their food. They have grit.

So sorry for your loss. We have a little guy that's 17 ½ and not having good days now. I hope we have the peace of losing him the way Irwin went but there's no good way.

.

So sad. Our sweet little Irwin died in his sleep tonight. He was 16 1/2. When I tucked him in his bed tonight, I told him he didn't have to stay here if he didn't want to. I told him it was ok if he wanted to go play with Apollo, Ayda, Chopper and Lexi. (Our other dogs buried in the backyard). He died 10 minutes later.

It's heartbreaking to lose a pet! I'm sorry!
