YO GEORGIANS! :)

Ok, have a grand total of 3 Ayam Cemani chicks hatched as of today. I am still amazed that any hatched. The eggs shipped Missouri and after they left the post office in Missouri they disappeared and showed up on day 9 and I still waited 24 hours before putting them in the incubator, just to let them settle. Out of the 7, only 5 were fertile and to have 3 hatch after all of that is amazing to say the least.

They aren't completely fluffed yet.

AHHHHHHHHH! SO JEALOUS! Look how adorable! I told the DH that, if we are able to expand the flock again next year, I want these. As a former freak/punky goth kid, I just have to have one for good measure! They make me think of my friend, Jyll. We call her PunkRockJyll and I swear if she ever kept chickens, it would only be these! LOL I already have names picked out.

Does anyone know what antibiotic I can give my rooster for an injury? He got hurt pretty bad on his face and has a swollen eye. I'm worried about infection. I tried posting in the emergency area but haven't gotten a reply.

I use Tylan 50, but it's packaged as an injection type. I buy small needles from the pharmacy. You can google 'using tylan 50 for chickens' or something like that. It's easy to give the chicken shots in the breast area.

Ughh.. Hatch is in full swing now and humidity has jumped from 54 to 62%.. The hatchlings are wetter and wetter. :( But I don't wanna mess with it and get it too low so I guess I'll just let it ride.

I agree. It was a nice exterior, but WAY too much.

We are working to finish our cabinet, just ordered the thermostat, heater and fan set.
Mine will include the 4 turners I've collected, but if I DID have $700 to spend, I would definitely buy the GQF one instead!

So far the outer case is done, door is in progress. Shelves are also in progress. The shelf holders are there, the shelves still need their 1/4" hardware cloth.
The false wall is on hold until we get the electronics installed, for spacing.

My last hatch was umm, interesting.
I had 14 Speckled Sussex eggs for a friend, 24 duck eggs for the friend, and then 1 silkie and 2 EE eggs just to fill it up.
I tried a more hands off approach, didn't candle til lockdown.
NONE of the SS eggs were fertile. :( Less than half the eggs were fertile.
My 3 eggs all looked good.

I didn't turn off the turner, and then more or less forgot it from Tuesday night.
Friday night I got home, and remembered the eggs.
Went to pull out the eggs, and noticed the silkie egg was zipped and empty.

Found the silkie sitting in one of the egg cups, riding back and forth!
Pulled her out, left the EE eggs.
Last night found one of them hatched, pulled him out and the last egg was pipped on the bottom of the egg.
Waiting to see how that ends.

Much better than when I stressed over them, candled at day 8 or so.
All I've done is add water every few days. And if the last one hatches, that would be 100% of the fertile eggs!

Plus Eric has some of my eggs, due to hatch on Wednesday I believe. :)
well he just kept on at me, and finally I just told him straight out that great plywood he was so proud of was $50 a sheet at home depot, and I know what he paid for the "internals" so he had himself a heck of a profit margin. I fully expected to have more snarky remarks from him when we got home from church, even though I told him I was done with it. But the whole thread has been deleted and he removed himself (I guess) from the group.....I think I should probably feel bad.

ok, thought about it, nope I don't.

No, but was wondering if you have been notified,

Peeps, please PM me if your coming so I can get an accurate head count for the cook out, so we can make sure we have enough food.

thanks

So sad. Our sweet little Irwin died in his sleep tonight. He was 16 1/2. When I tucked him in his bed tonight, I told him he didn't have to stay here if he didn't want to. I told him it was ok if he wanted to go play with Apollo, Ayda, Chopper and Lexi. (Our other dogs buried in the backyard). He died 10 minutes later.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss.
