Thank you so much for the advice. It doesn't look or sound like it's made it's way to the air cell. I can only see movement in the shadow of the air cell so I know it's alive as of last night anyway. I bumped up the temp right now so hopefully he pulls through. I have all my quail on that food...
I hope I can find some help on this page. My husband works for a park where they have a ton of peafowl. He's noticed a momma on a nest for a few weeks or more now. Today a terrible thing happened. A stray dog got ahold of momma and killed her and a new born hatchling. He was able to save one...
I LOVE Craigslist! And Pinterest. I have an big old steal swing set that I am going to turn into a coop or an aviary thanks to an idea I saw on Pinterest. I haven't decided Which way I'm going to go with it yet. Lol it will look something like this.
Here are my three silkies hanging out with the quail. The far left is the buff. He is kind of a miracle since my daughter pick that egg up with it was less than a week into incubating, dropped it and made a huge crack. I sealed it with wax and he was the first to hatch. :)
I also ended up with 3. 2 whites and a buff. The eye less chick was also white but my husband decided to cull it. That's the second time with these eggs I have had to put a deformed chick down. :(
@jorey It's not letting me PM you for some reason. That chick got out of the shell but can't stay on its feet. It keeps getting stuck on its back. It has no eyes at all. Very strange thing.
I have 3 out. The first out last night still had a small amount of yolk left. When I woke up 2 more had made their way out. I have 1 white one who looks amazing. The other two have crooked toes and just look a little weak. None of them have vaulted skulls. The 4th is still in the egg and still...
Wow... out of the 8 I already lost 4 to shrink wrap. Beautiful splash babies. Makes me sick. I decided to intervene with the other 4. Moistened the membranes. It's going to be a long night...
for size reference @KV Silkies
I have 3 external pips out of 8. I think one of those was dead when I candled yesterday so it's probably 3 of 7. I'm so nervous. I am debating if I should help at all. I am worried about the air cells and my humidity is in the high 60s. I have 3 containers of...
I candled when I pulled the quail out this morning and I am WORRIED! The air cell looks too big AGAIN and I'm having flash backs to my last hatch which was a nightmare. I decided not to assist any chicks this time around. I'm not sure if you recall but last time I had to put one down after...
