Thanks - was pretty sure about the first one with the comb. I will get some photos of the other 6 to work out if there are any boys there. I was told from initial feather sexing that there were 3 or 4 boys out of the 10. I think I'm gunna need more colours of cable ties :)
Good to know my RIR is actually a girl. I have two of them, but this one is darker and slighlty different shape to the feathers than the other - well at least I thought they were both RIRs. I have my suspicions that the little silver laced wyandotte is a roo, but we'll wait and see as it seems I...
And these two are the youngest of my flock of 16. Born 13/14 January. One is a Sliver laced Wyandotte and the other a Barnevelder. Do not know sex of either, although I have my suspicions. If I end up with 2 Roos from these or my 2 RIRs, I have promised one to a friend (even though I am allowed...
My RIR is now 21 weeks old and neither a crow nor an egg (that I know of anyway).
I was convinced he was a he, but I would have thought that I would have been awakened with the whole cock-a-doodle-doo by now.
So hot, we pretty much cooked our African Cichlids (fish tank). Quick drive to the closest service station for a bag of ice to sove in the tank. Hoping we were able to save a couple of them. Chooks and dogs surviving ok though.
The chickens seem to be coping and finding a cool spot under the house. The dogs appreciate the Bunnings clam shell pool and the chickens were curious about it. One more day of this heat wave left. Really hope to see an amazing air con deal over winter so we can have one installed for next...
Mine just hatched 2 on Tuesday, and still sitting on one. Lots of panting. All I've been doing is making sure there is cool water in the nesting box and going down and giving her cold grapes and watermelon. I'll give this last one another day, but pretty sure it's not going to hatch.
Thanks, I've seen that thread. Great to share with fellow Aussies, but also nice to see what the rest of the world is up to as well. Can't imagine what it would be like dealing with snow and all that ice
It was awesome!! I could hear the little chirps and was trying to figure where the sound was coming from, then saw the tiny hole in the egg. The gold popped out late Monday night and the second one the following morning.
I recently joined BYC, and prior to that enjoyed reading posts as a guest. I had 2 broody Sussex chooks and got them some fertile eggs for Christmas!!
These girls did the work for over 2 weeks, and had a bit of a roster happening with the other girls. For the last few days, one of my ISA...
No nothing has happened to the tail, I assume it hasn't grown fully yet. Here is a photo with my Australorp - you can see that they are quite different shape although they are the same age.
Checked the soles of the feet and they are more pink than yellow. The photo i posted was taken the same day and she is 15 weeks old. She is the smallest of the 5 in height, but filled out more. Color is the same as those posted so definitely a blue something. Feathers are the same shape as the...
