Sick Chicken - poop pics included

I will pick some Corid up tomorrow. Couple of questions. Are eggs still edible from healthy chickens who are on Corid? How did an older chicken with no change in environment get coccidiosis?

Quick update - started giving her electrolytes. No real change observed yet. Now she is showing some blood in her poop. What could be going on here?

Sick Chicken - poop pics included

I forgot to mention Eggcessive - early this week we had a horrible stretch of hot humid weather. Worse we've had all summer. It finally started cooling down Weds. night. Maybe heat related and she will perk up in this cooler weather?

Sick Chicken - poop pics included

Thanks for the quick reply! Here are some answers to your questions: Nothing new to environment. I have 10 birds - 7 are original when we started spring 2013 (she's an original), 3 new chicks spring 2014. In run and coop they've always been in. Are out most every afternoon/evening in yard...

Sick Chicken - poop pics included

Noticed yesterday one of our RIR (1.5 yrs old) very lethargic and listless. Separated her for the day/night. Here is a pic of poop found this am. Other symptoms - droopy tail feathers, very quiet, barely makes any noise. Not eating, little water. Thoughts? Ideas?

DIY bucket feeeder - how to stop them eating the caulking?

You just need to be patient. It's what chickens do. Throw one treat out there and they all go crazy. Give everyone a treat and throw another out and they all drop what they have and fight over the new one. It's just life in the chicken world. They always seem to work it out!

Chickens won't go up into sheltered part of the coop

These are great questions and a big reason why I love BYC! If these chicks are new to the coop it is recommended that you leave them locked inside for 5-7 days before letting them out. They learn the coop is home and they will always return home. Even if you haven't done this it's not too...

    Moving chicks into chicken coop

This is my second year with chickens so I'm no expert but what I learned (thanks to Backyard Chickens!) is that when you move chicks into their new home, aka coop, you need to keep them in there for about a week. Locked up. Don't let them out. They learn that's home. The roosts are there...

    Featherless breast.

You should never use Cedar shavings with chickens. Very bad.

Feather Picking - Pick No More & Eggs

Reading a lot on my brand new battle with feather picking. I think I have it narrowed down to boredom or protein issue. This first winter with chickens has been hard but I thought we were okay until last week. Went out to coop Friday morning and one of my PBR's had all of its butt downy...

    ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

Last two days it's been working again. Haven't done anything different. Hope once holidays are done I might be able to discuss with Rod. Very perplexing.

    ADOR1 Automatic Coop Door?

My first BYC post after a long time lurking. I bought the Ador and installed about 4-5 weeks ago. Been through the whole gambit of N Indiana weather. No problems and I love it as do the girls. About 3 days ago I noticed it didn't open up in AM. It has not opened on its own in last 3 days...
