My poor girl has had so many losses...

My poor Hen Maxine is currently sitting for her 4th attempt. Shes only 2-3ish years old. About 2 years ago she succesfully on her first attempt, sitting on only 1 egg, hatched her daughter who we still have today and is a perfectly healthy hen. But since then, she has tried again and...

    QUICK! Should I assist?

Quick pic. In a very warm temperature controlled room. And heres his buddy (half brother) thats two weeks older. Mom is taking care of the two week old out in the coop, hence the reason I brought the new chick in, because she was too busy with the older one to sit on this egg. But maybe I...

    QUICK! Should I assist?

How long should I wait to move the brooder? This egg was from an older hen that had no interest in it and it was adopted by a younger hen that was sitting on it up until about a week ago when her own egg hatched and was about 3 days old and she started taking him down into the yard to eat. So I...

    QUICK! Should I assist?

Our one single egg has made an external pip earlier this evening (about 5 hours ago) and has not made any more progress. I can hear him peeping away LOUDLY and see the egg moving like crazy. I can see a bit of him through the hole he made. Reading on other pages about assisting says to watch...

Talk to me about Mommy Hens

So I've previously posted on here about trying to hatch a few eggs myself in an incubator. Ended up having no luck and none of the chicks hatched. Ended up getting rid of the incubator and all of a sudden our bantam hen became interested in sitting on her eggs (she wasn't interested before!)...
