    egg laying on the roost

I've recently had to block off my nesting boxes at night to prevent my hens from sleeping in them (a habit they formed from poor and inexperienced coop building on my part.) I've since altered the roosts added more and made them all higher than my nesting boxes. It would appear one of my...

    sick jersey giant

I recently got 4 jersey giants from a farm down the road. I've had them about a month and they are at most 2 1/2 months old. I haven't recently treated for worms but had just started a mass clean out and upgrade of their coop. Deworming meds was on my shopping list for this week. Thanks so...

hen won't get off her eggs

That's probably the best advice I've read. My only concern about the existing eggs she's laying on is that I have no idea how old the eggs are or if I should put a fresh batch under her and start again. Or just leave things as they are and hope for the best. I don't really want to wear her out...

hen won't get off her eggs

Been looking to make my own incubator and in the process I've come to realise one of my hens is already got a start on sitting on a bunch of eggs. Really not sure if should leave the hen and the eggs in the coop or move them to there own area. There is currently 10 hen's and 1 rooster in a large...
