Okies in the BYC The Original

I live about an hour east of Tulsa...so if anyone in the Tulsa area is interested, I am planning to make a trip to Tulsa in the next day or 2 with a chick/chicken delivery. I live a little far for the Tulsa area people and have some that are wanting chicks and/or chickens. So, if you are...

Silkies - what are the mixed kinds?

I have some black silkies and some white. They are now separated but when they were together I got some mixed ones. I am wondering if they are called something other than "mixed". I've heard of "splash" but don't know what that is and something else I can't think of. I guess what they turn...

    Will my guineas EVER lay?

Great, thanks! I put a few things out there awhile ago for them to get in and/or under. I'll work on more later - hopefully it will warm up a little more and that danged ol wind will die down. Sure keeps ya busy hatching out all those eggs, huh? I've been out cleaning out the chicks boxes -...

    Will my guineas EVER lay?

Thanks for the input/advice. I will definitely go out today and get them some "semi-private" places. Maybe that's what they need because they basically have nothing directly over them (roof is 6' high). If that doesn't work...maybe they just need more time, warmer weather. Thanks!

    Will my guineas EVER lay?

I have about 40 guineas and none are laying. They were in 3 separate pens but we built a 20 x 20 pen that they are all in together now. Pen has a nice roosting place. They get plenty of food and water. There are a few bales of hay around here and there. We put a light on them about 2 months...

    Feeding peacocks ???????

I've had one peacock for a while now and it has been out & about. A couple of months ago I bought 3 more and now have all 4 in a pen. It seems they don't eat much. These are good sized birds and it seems they hardly eat at all. They seem to act pretty healthy. Thet are getting same food as...

    Hello from Oklahoma

Since I'm new to this, I don't know what's going on - every time I type a certain word, a different word comes up. Why? It's like that in #8, #10, #15 and what someone else has on #14. Do you see the same thing I do? It's right when I type and preview but comes up on here different. Makes...

    Hello from Oklahoma

Can't say yet for sure but I think they are getting closer. We've only had chickens for about a year (my husband wanted "a few" chickens and look what I've done. Since we started with nothing, we have spent lot of money building pens, buying chickens, and getting everything to get started...

    Hello from Oklahoma

Yeah, that's a LOT of birds!!! What we do with them - spend every free second we have taking care of them. No, really, we have them all separated by breeds (and some younger by sizes) and we collect the eggs and hatch them. We hatch appx. 200 eggs a week...and that's not including quail eggs...
