What breed is this little cutie?

Was just thinking that actually. Thanks for the reply though! Not sure why I didn't think about it, I've gotten one from the sAme place last year. I also got two 'Americauna' today. I will consider them easter eggers just to keep myself happy, I've heard it's extremely rare to get true...

What breed is this little cutie?

So! This is one of two chicks like this I have. Mostly black colored fluff on the backs. Chest and some highlights on the winglettes are yellow. Comb appears rather flat. You can see in the photos, along with the facial coloring and yellow feet. Wondering what breed you all think? They came in a...

    Post your Ducklings!

Just a little funny for y'all. I separated my chicks out from my ducks last night. Apparently after months of bonding, the ducks felt attached to the chicks. Whoooooo boy were they upset with me! Squawking quacking away! I'm the plus side, one of My Cayuga was the loudest complainer, so I may...

    Mallard Gender Identification

Thanks for the information! And I'll have to try that with the Cayugas. My Khaki already 'screams at me' if I leave her sight before handing out any pets. Lol.

    Mallard Gender Identification

Not the best photo (sorry about that...) But i am wondering if the two Mallards i got are, in fact, Drakes. They are both starting to show an almost green hue to the tops of their noggins, and at only 5 weeks. :th So far, out of the 5 ducklings purchased, my Khaki Campbell is the only one...

    accused of killing neighbor's chickens

I want to say that a wild predator wouldn't kill for fun without eating the chickens So it points to a domestic animal (imho) however... That doesn't mean it was YOUR dog. They must have a lot of money if they are DNA sampling their chickens.

    Duckling identification help please

A better photo may help. I can't see the one in back. But the front duckling appears to either be a mallard or Rouen. Does it have one stripe or two on its face? If it's got one over the eye and a complete stripe under, I'd say Rouen. If not, Mallard. My best guess.[/IMG]

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Thought I would share today. I have, in the past, had issues with dogs and chicks. Today as I was cleaning the chicks pen out, I must have left the gate untied. I poked my head out there was my Lucy dog, laying next to their outside section... Bathing a chick through the wire Lucy, and the...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

When you meet a tractor supply employee who's actually willing to learn. I found her manager and said wonderful things about this young lady. I was looking at the baby duck and she apologized for not knowing exactly which Ducks were what breed. I helped her to find the Rouen from the mallard. It...

    Mink!

Reinforce your pen/coop area as best you can. Continue with the trap attempts. Check on the birdies as much as possible. Sorry you're having a predator issue. I've had Hawks and Eagles flying around my small chicks brooder for days now ... Darn creatures

    Hatchery chicks versus actual day-olds

If I recall correctly they still (for the first day or two) can survive off the yolk absorbed for directly after hatching. Crossing fingers for you!

Secure run: to bury or not to bury?

I'm turning out old hog pen into the new chicken area. So I've got about 8" deep burried fencing lined with borders, the hogs never got out, so I'm banking on that from letting predators IN. haha. Hope it works out!
