I had three Cream Crested Legbar chicks hatch last week and even though I am pretty sure I know two are roos and only one is a hen I am looking for a second opinion (wishful thinking I guess). I was really hoping of the 6 eggs I put in I would get more than only one hen.
I'm sorry if this is redundan. I'm getting overwhelmed with results when I search the forum however. I just bought a used (bought in April and used twice) Hovabator 1588. I also bought 3 dozen eggs (probably not the brightest move for my first time using an incubator) that I should be picking up...
I purchased a small group of bantam chicks from TSC about 6 weeks ago and one of the cockerels that has been completely gray up to this point now looks to be turning an orange color. Any ideas what this breed is or why he would be changing this color?
We currently have about 25 chickens and just brought home 3 Nigerian Dwarf kids. Our plan is for them to be housed together and share the same run so I am looking for ideas on housing chickens and goats together harmoniously. How do you keep the goats out of the chicken feed? Set up of nest...
I have a 4-5 wee old silkie chick which up to this point has been all white. However I've noticed that it has some black feathers starting to show on its wings now. Will it eventually go back to all white or is it a different color all together?

Do you know if the Cornish crosses can have spots? Looking at pictures online it looks possible that it could be a cornish cross, however I have not seen any pictures with the spotting like this chick has and it is actually heavier looking than what I am seeing. Litterally it looks like it is...
I have a group of 6 "ameraucanas." 5 of the chicks meet all the standards for Ameraucanas and appear to be your average chicks, however one of the 6 is built entirely different, does not meet any standards of an Ameraucana and is hugely fat. It is obvious this chick was incorrectly labled...
Lol. Yes, hey are definitely not what I was expecting. The overall color is totally different than what I'm familiar seeing in araucanas. I agree with some of the other posters that they are probably easter eggers of some sort. They seem to bully my other chicks as well, chasing them and pulling...
Lightchick, can you see the picture that is in the comments. I definitely wouldn't consider the legs blue.
Ladycat, I got them from a local feed store. They were labeled as araucanas and I even questioned the owner of the business who acted like I was an idiot and told me they were definitely...
I have a chick which I was told was an araucaa, however I am not sure that is true and am too novice to know for sure. This chick is less than a week old and is such a bully! It picks on the other 8 chicks with it including chicks that are over 2 weeks old. It chases other chicks and nips at...
I have a chick that sometime between last night and this morning managed to get herself under a box cover that was in the brooder to keep the water raised. I think she must have been crushed by the other chicks as they walked on the cover to get to the water as she was pretty squished up when I...
My husband, infant son and I just built a new home and decided with all the new space we have we would get some hens for eggs. We now have 10 chicks and are excited about our new adventure!
