thanks all, I would just like to be able to wash it out with a hose once or twice a year. I figured that I could coat the floor and about 1 foot up the wall.
Has anyone ever used elastomeric paint to coat the floor of a coop. It is supposed to be waterproof and forms a thick coating. Im not sure about the toxicity though. any comments or suggestions welcome. Thanks, Dave
thanks for the replies, no the eggs weren't shipped. I got the eggs from a friend. One thing that i should note is that when he brought them to me, they were in the carton with the pointed end up. Not sure if that would cause my problem or not. As far as humidity goes, I kept it at 50% for...
I've just incubated a total of 62 chicken eggs. Of the total, 11 of them did not begin to develop, 22 of them were later found dead in the shell without piping, and 29 hatched. Not sure what could have caused so many of them to fully develop and not hatch. Any thoughts would be greatly...
The cartons sit in a rack that I built. The whole thing turns. The trays that are in the pic are for quail eggs but I'm incubating chicken eggs right now.
Just sold (and ate) the last of my quail for the year!!! I plan on starting back at the beginning of March with some new stock. I've always raised Coturnix, both brown and A&M's, for the meat and eggs. I was wondering if anyone knows of a place to get good hatching eggs or chicks. Im...
For the past 3 days every morning when we go to check the quail we have a bird dead, well for the past two days we have had 3 to 4 dead. At first we thought it might be the weather or the water then we had some dying that wasnt even near the others and we realized it might be something more...
When the bird is on Aureomycin can you hatch these eggs? Snd if so could this possiblly effect the future birds ability to natural ability fight illness?
they were coturnix, some a&ms, which aren't exactly the most camouflage! I'll try putting one alone and see what happens
ONTHESPOT: sounds like had a much greater loss than me, I only lost a few quail! The most expensive cage in the world still won't work if you forget to close the door...
I found the hooks at Lowes but i've seen them at wal-mart. They work well but u just have to remeber to latch them!!!!! Maybe i'll get a few back this afternoon, who knows!
Make sure that you secure the latch on your cage after tending to your birds!!!!!!!! I fed my birds last night and forgot to secure the latch. I have one of those spring loaded hook and eyes. Found 11 out of 23 that escaped but also found one dead and several small piles of feathers! Not a...
Thanks to both of you for your input, i have a small brooder that i will let the day olds wake up a bit, then i will put them together. I just got carried away with the whole hatching thing!
Hello everyone, I was wondering if it is ok to combine day old coturnix quail chicks with 4 day old coturnix quail chicks in the same brooder? thanks for any input
