Hanging out with the chickens today. My 6 month old Australorp roo and hens are really starting to look mature. Unfortunately they were more interested in the scratch I gave them than being videoed.

    hatching experiment home made

There's heaps of good info on here if you take a bit of time to read through a few threads on incubators. I was a complete newbie before I made my first incubator. But with some research, turned out an effective incubator. I've attached a link to a clip of my incubator. It cost me about $50 AUD...

    Power cut

Here's a clip of some of my eggs hatching after numerous power outages in quite cold conditions. Everything worked out fine even with temperature drops at various stages of development and for quite lengthy periods (much longer than 6 hours) I think they'll be just fine. Delayed a bit perhaps...

20,002 I've done some calculations. It's taken 18 months to count to 20000. Therefore it's going to take 75 years at this rate. Only 73.5 to go! See you all at the 1,000,000 party. When I'm 118 years old.

    Baby Chicks

Anywhere between 10 mins and 24 hours is my experience. First to pip doesn't mean first to hatch.

    Updating avatar/profile picture

I too had this problem on iPhone. The solution is to log into BYC using safari on your phone rather than the app. Then click desktop version at the bottom of the page. Click on your avatar. Select add photos or edit photos then you can select a different photo or upload a new one.
