Australorps breed Thread

I'm sorry i
celestial you pronounce tial that like tion in caption only with a l instead of a n.

Okay that is just weird pronouncing lol

You know it's not actually so much how we pronounce it but how we hear it. When I went to the us I kept asking for a weak coffee and getting all these confused looks. Finally after about three days I asked yet another puzzled waitress what on earth you guys called a not very strong coffee. She said, oh we call it weak but you are saying wick. Now to my ears I was saying exactly the same thing as her. Her weak and wick sounded exactly how I would have sworn I pronounced them. It was a big eye opener on why it takes people so long to learn to pronounce a new language properly. How can you get it right when you can't actually hear you've got it wrong!

So it's not all about saying, sometimes it's how you hear it too :)

Hanging out with the chickens today. My 6 month old Australorp roo and hens are really starting to look mature. Unfortunately they were more interested in the scratch I gave them than being videoed.

Put all but one of my boys in the freezer today. Well, in the fridge. They're resting before going into the artic wonderland. It was a good experience for John, he's finally getting the hang of things! Cleared up plenty of roost space, too. The grower coop hasn't been that empty in a year.

I left my biggest boy. Hoping he turns out decent. If not, I know where a back up plan is. ;) Mrs.B... I'll give him another month or so and weigh him again. He's still small, just tall and awkward. He's a full four inches taller than the hens and pullets.

I was cleaning the baby pens...and I have more roosters for the freezer in a few months. Is it the year of the rooster or something? I'm having no luck getting pullets. Going to be ordering more from fireman when my incubator clears out.

Do you think these babies are australorps crosses? They are 2 weeks old. I am new to this, and I am trying to educate myself, but the internet isn't as helpful as I would like. Thanks in advance!
