Whew! Finally got caught up on all the posts! Looks like POOPS was a great success. I wish I could have made it, but between Father's Day and everything else going on around here we were just too busy. Maybe next year!
Your babies are too cute! So far I have 4 guineas, 6 of my mixed chicks, and 1 BLRW. Several others are pipped. Using the washcloth under the hatching tray has worked well. The humidity has stayed pretty stable, thank goodness!
I have two keets hatched. One more is almost there. The mal positioned baby that externally pipped below the air cell is making a little progress but not much...I'm keeping a close eye on it. It's so crowded in the bator I can't tell if I have any other pips
Keets are hatching :)
I put a wet washcloth in my Brinsea underneath the tray so it could wick water from both of the wells. So far no problems with the humidity.
I locked down a combo of guineas, BLRWs and a few of my free range mix today. When I opened the bator to remove the racks I heard lots if peeping. I had several guineas internally pipped and one externally pipped at the wrong end. Now I have 3 more guinea eggs externally pipped! The chickens...
Yay! I'm so happy you've had a good hatch!! I moved the batch of guinea/chicken eggs into the Brinsea a few days ago and today is lockdown. When I took the incubator out of the cradle and opened it to take the racks out I heard peeping! I have several guinea eggs internally pipped and one that...
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am also using the Brinsea. I'm a nurse so getting the IV setup stuff would be no problem lol! My frustration stems more from the fact that I bought this pricey incubator so I didn't have to mess with it so much. I could buy the humidity pump but honestly if I'm...
The humidity issues were awful. Yes, I only had the three and I'm hoping that was part of the problem. I could get the humidity up to 60-65% but I COULD NOT get it to stay there! It would dry up in a matter of a few hours. I tried everything. I had extra cups with water, sponges, paper towels...
You weren't kidding about trying to keep the humidity up in the Brinsea! I locked down this morning and have had to open the incubator 4 times to wet sponges :( that's with both reservoirs full. The humidity in the room is 40% so I don't know why it would dry out so fast. I really didn't want to...
Today is lockdown for the three lonely little eggs in my Brinsea. I started with 22 eggs that were so scrambled by USPS that most failed to develop at all. Now I have two silkies with saddle cells and 1 little bantam cochin egg. All three were alive and moving yesterday. I'm gonna cross my...
I've been busy with all these chicks, but I had to drop and catch up. Looks like everyone else has been busy too :) I ended up with 26 chicks from my hatch last week. 27 hatched, but 1 died :(. 13 are my free range mix and the rest are Polish. Several of my polish are definitely frizzle!!! Yay!
I'm glad some of you guys are getting some of this rain! We've got maybe 1/4 inch on Saturday. I'm praying we get a decent amount over the next few days! Some runoff into the dry/almost dry ponds would be awesome, but at this point I'll be estactic with any at all!
I ended up with 27 chicks from my hatch. I candled the eggs in the Brinsea again and there were definitely only 3 alive/developing. Most of the eggs I chunked were clear. So now the Brinsea is sitting there with those 3 little eggs lol. That's okay though, they should actually hatch right before...
