June Hatch-A-Long

Candled my latest batch last night on Day 7. Set 7 Swedish Flower Hen eggs on May 26th in my Brinsea Mini Advance. 2 were infertile, and 1 early death ring. Left me with 4 bouncing squirming moving little blobs, with those little black eyes moving about. I swear they seem to move away from the light. Do they do that? I try to be quick, and not linger with the light.

Any one else on or close to day 7?

Good Luck all, and Congrats on all the new little chicks!

I candled my eggs 2 days ago. I have 10 guinea eggs in there and one SBEL. Unfortunately, all the BBS Marans were dead or smooshed after the incubator spill. I have thought about ordering more and doing one more hatch, untitled with the traveling we want to do this summer, I am not sure I want to make myself quite that crazy. ;)

So I figured out what happened to my first batch of eggs, the thermometer I was using was out, I think I cooked them, I bought a new thermometer yesterday with a probe, because I was getting 4-5 degree drops every time I went to check the temp and while the first thermometer (which I was starting to question) was showing a perfect 102 the new one showed 106 immediately, I brought the temp down quickly, but I'm still a little worried, I candled, but couldn't see much, what I could see looked like day three veining, not day 5, so I think my eggs won't hatch till day 23 if they hatch at all :(

One of my eating egg customers commented my eggs were always perfect, but one lady she got eggs from once, a lot of the eggs had chicks or veining in them. With how much I'm thinking about it when I'm trying to get these to grow, I'm a little jealous of the lady who was doing it accidentally. I never had one that was growing accidentally, only one with a larger bullseye than normal.

100 guniea eggs went on lock down today had five hatched out already this mornin movin them from incubator to hatcher and 400 quail eggs hatch date is Friday gonna be over run with chicks

400

I have two keets hatched. One more is almost there. The mal positioned baby that externally pipped below the air cell is making a little progress but not much...I'm keeping a close eye on it. It's so crowded in the bator I can't tell if I have any other pips

I just went into lock down.

I went to fill up the 2nd troth and realized the first troth had no water in it!!! So i filled them both up. The humidty was down to 27-30 because i forgot to fill it up as the weeks progressed. I hope I still get a successful hatch. Crosses fingers. I put like 4 of the iffy's in and left out the 5 bad eggs which had no veins.

Now we just play the waiting game....

Well I started with 18 eggs. Lost one on day 10. So locked down 17 and now have 17 new chics to show for it. First hatch where I didn't help any at all. I will take pics of the new little peepers in just a few. Waiting for the last couple to fluff out.

I have a question about counting days. I set my eggs at 8 am on Thurs, May 22nd. Do you count that as day 1, or would day one be Friday, May 23rd? I know I'm getting close to day 18, and just want to make sure I have it right. Thanks!

The first day when you set eggs is considered day 0. After 24 hrs have passed, or the following day, it is day 1. It becomes day 2 at 48 hours, etc etc :)
If you set on May 22, June 11 is your day 21!
