    Sick ducks please help

We are in rural France... The only option we have is wheat, wheat/corn mix or really expensive grain mixes from specialist shops I'll try the wheat/corn mix

    Sick ducks please help

It's wheat.... we've always fed our ducks this way and never had any problems. Do you think we should be feeding them more variety?

    Sick ducks please help

Hi everyone. This year I have had 20 ducklings hatch in the spring, so they are now about 6 months old. 3 of them have suddenly gone lame. I'll call them duck 1, 2 and 3! So duck 1 got lame as in couldn't walk at all, then the next day he was fine again which lasted a week and then he suddenly...

    Lonely partridge

Hi everyone! I live in France, where the hunting season has just started. Yesterday I saw a male partridge on the side of the road so I stopped to check on him. He was in shock but unharmed so I scooped him up and have put him in with our young chickens/chicks where at least he is safe. Today he...

    Chick with swollen leg joint

Hi...I went on holiday and left my 6 chicks with a friend. I came back to find one limping badly, choosing to flutter when possible rather than walk, but able to stand and walk a little bit. The upper leg joint is badly swollen and red/ warm, but the foot is not. I have brought her in today as...

    dead ducklings

Hi - thank you both for the replies! My worry is that if she doesn't take them then by the time I reach in to take them back she'll have already killed them - do you know if they try to shoo them away for a bit first or just go into attack mode? We have 2 hatched now and one more on the way so...

    dead ducklings

Hi - I have a duck who is great at getting broody and sitting, but she throws her eggs out one by one until there is only one left - that hatches and then we find the duckling dead every time....before it's even dried off :-( This has been happening for 2 years - I was hoping she'd get better at...

Shivering baby chick after assisted hatch

I'm not sure that's the correct name - it's the same idea as a heat lamp, but it's a square ceramic 'plate' on adjustable legs....the chicks go underneath it and it's meant to be a bit more like mum as they can get right up against it and be snuggly.

Shivering baby chick after assisted hatch

Please please someone answer this as I haven't had much luck with replies before. I had a chick who pipped and made a whole big enough to stick his beak though.....30 hours later he had still made no further progress at all, so I helped him by pulling of some bits of shell like in the videos...

Hi - thanks for replying! We are quite close to you, we are just south of Lyon! :-) Thank you so much for the marmite offer - we all love it in our house so we have loads don't worry ;-) Good idea for adding it to the food, I'll try it in the morning. chicken can't see properly

Update on the above...please can anyone help! My chicken is now propping herself up against the wall as otherwise she slides over to left and finds it really difficult to get up. I spent yesterday offering food and water, neither of which interested her so I opening her beak up and dribbled in...

    poorly/sticky chick

I've only just updated my profile to put on that I'm in France, don't worry ;-) could I just add a bit of salt to the sugar water for a day and then when he starts to peck around then feed him lots of veggies as well as grain?
